Series62- why are you talking about Short and comparing eligibility in the classroom to drinking problems?
I really don't see how the kids drinking has anything to do with Short or Coach Slaughter. Please explain what you are getting at. Or just go away and hibernate again.
Read rr1's post #741.
When you review the various comments made by all of you this entire basketball season, and during/after the "drinking event" prior to the football season, and after the last basketball season, the comments made stated how the students, (especially some of those who seem to keep getting in trouble from drinking), did not respect the Short especially due to his "so-called" lack of moral character. So many of you have continually stated how Coach Davault and Coach Slaighter's high moral character has brought back the respect and pride of the athletic program and community. And whether it is a "different animal" or not, it is the issue. It is an issue of "poor performance" in and/or out of the class. orrpride said recently, "he's teaching them to be better men", as a slight against Short and his "era".
If it has nothing to do with the coaches rrfan, why didn't you speak up then. And as I've said before, the conduct of any of the young men had nothing to do with either coach!
I'm not putting Orrville down! I like the town, and I understand community pride as well as your pride in the school's athletics. But it's funny how that "pride" thing works, noone painted the bridge, put up streamers or held caravans and "brought the town" to Columbus when the wrestler and/or swimmers went to state in their sport this year. Did not those students deserve support from their school alumni and fellow Riders!
So don't assume that I don't have "Orrville" in my blood, I have 3 sons that have attended and graduated from Orrville High School, I've put in my share of miles in travelled, paid my share of academic/athletic fees, purchased shoes/t-shirts/tickets for football/basketball/track, been to volleyball games, girls basketball, and if you listened, you heard my "Go Red!" over many other shouting fans!
What I don't like is the B.S. and bias that is also practiced in sports, be it Orrville or Zaneville!
By the way, I'm not from Ohio at all!
