cool. I was wondering that. I think he deserves a chance, esp. when the other coach won't take the job now. I can only imagine how much hard work it will be but I think right now if anyone could do it it'd be him.

Yea with the state taking over BHS and i think football will be pay to play . Its going to be a rough road for whoever it is. On a sidenote MFHS is looking to be in some trouble as well.

Didn't they just build a new high school? Assumed things were OK at MF.

On the news last night they said that they were going to cut some postions and salary cuts as well to try not to cut any programs.

I believe alot of the valley will see more of this. I think enrollments will drop as the jobs keep going away. It's a shame to, alot of schools with years of tradition.

Yea i agree. I think your going to see alot of that "C" word that nobody wants. I still believe that ICHS has not got over it yet. However i think that it is getting better and will be fine one day. It just takes time to let the bitterness go away.

The C word is inevitable. A Bellaire/ Shadyside and Ferry/Bridgeport consolidation would do wonders for the economic situation those schools face.

Bellaire will not be pay to play. If they go that route they will really be in money trouble. There will be a mass exodus. It will be a ghost town.

I agree i think it would be the best thing to do considering the economic situation of both the school and the country. I just think that its hard to handle and people will be upset about it.

I think in the Bellaire Shadyside situation, the Shadyside people will be more upset than the Bellaire people. Many of the folks Shadyside like the makeup of the socio-economic makeup of their schools district as it is. I think the Bellaire people would be more upset from a tradition standpoint.

You know what makes pay to play a real bad issue. When your best player and his parents take a stand and say, "nope, we are not paying it! What are you going to do about it? You know you need me!"

When that happens it gets ugly!

The AD handles all of that, if it is not paid by a certain time then they are off the team until it is paid. If it goes further than that the kid will not be able to participate in the next sport until it is paid. Still don't pay then it gets tacked onto your school fees, will not let you walk at graduation and will hold your diploma and transcripts until paid.

hope it dont get that far. reading the times leader they're talking about a 12.9 mill levy which is unheard of. don't think the people of bellaire can handle that much seeing the economy the way it is. maybe an alumnus will step up and help.

Who?? There are no T. Boone Pickens from Bellaire. The wealthiest alumni are probably Joey Galloway and now Nate Davis. Joey is about done with his career and will not have a few mil to drop into the community. Nate may never get to his level of earning.

im sure there are wealthier alumni, doctors, lawyers etc. really wasnt talking millions either. just something to get the school district over the hump with sports , band, choir etc. maybe they should contact mr. pickens. he may have a few extra dollars.
