Anyone else find this story hilarious? They're complete idiots we're defending! It's one thing to be gay, it's another to be gay and not realize it. These people have eaten too much sand.

At the risk of being labeled some kind of racist or Islam-o-phobe (is that even a word?), it sounds to me like much of this stems from their Arab or Islamic culture.

As for the pedophilia aspect, it makes you wonder if there's a historical connection between the ancient Greeks and this group.

I think in certain sub-cultures within the Arab/Islamic culture this may be true. This is not just isolated in the Arab/Islamic culture though; we see this often in the U.S. in which homosexuals often try to convince themselves they are not homosexual because they have grown up within a culture that believes it to be bad.

That being said, I think the way it is ultimately recognized and somewhat accepted in the US and other parts of the world is very different than how it is or isn't in the middle east.

How is this any different than gays in the US 50 years ago? It's even worse in Afghanistan because they will be killed for being gay so obviously they aren't going to be open about it.

The extreme level of ignorance about sexuality, period, is much different. I doubt very much gays in the US 50 years ago would think they got an STD from drinking tea when they'd had anal intercourse.

Well, you know why they can't find a cure for AIDS, right?

They aren't able to teach the white mice how to nail each other in the bunghole.

I'm all for politically incorrect jokes, but this fell flatter than your girlfriend's chest.

The posts with the joke in it are hidden for the moment while I decide if it is too offensive or not as anal intercourse isn't even a leading cause of HIV.

I don't think it has to do with ignorance. IMO, I think they know how they got the STD, they are just trying to deflect from the issue, that they're gay.
