Little known fact, his son Matt played "Burke" (the guy who rides the tricycle for the Alpha Beta's in the Greek olympics) in the original Revenge of the Nerds.

He was also Ray Kinsella's kidnap victim in the book Shoeless Joe, which became Field of Dreams. They had to invent a new character (Terrance Mann) when Salinger threatened a lawsuit.gorocks99 wrote: http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,584170,00.html

Hopefully this doesn't result in a movie being made for Catcher in the Rye. Great book, but I don't think it would translate well to a film, similar to The Great Gatsby.

Catcher is fantastic, but his short stories are what really capture me.
"Pretty Mouth and Green My Eyes"?
Amazing work.
