Yeah, there wasnt anything really wrong with what he said. It was just stupid and didnt really make any sense to the matter at hand.

I think that he makes a good point. As much as we sometimes try to pretend that we have moved beyond racism, it isn't really true. And so much was made about his race during the election and so much has been made about him being the first Black president, noting that his race is no longer noticed is an important observation.

Things were similar when Kennedy was elected because he was Catholic. We had always had White, Protestant males, and we now had a White, Catholic male as President. A lot was made of it at the time, but now people only remember what he did as President and not that he was Catholic. If we have come to a point where we no longer notice Barak Obama's race except to mention that we no longer notice it, that is an important observation.

Now, I'm not naive enough to believe that America is truly post-racial, but if we can talk about what Obama does and says and ignore the fact that he is Black we have made important strides towards being post-racial. The fact is that there is something unique about him as President that makes him remarkably different from every President that preceded him. If we can, as Dr. King dreamed, judge him not by the color of his skin but by the content of his character (or words, or actions, etc) to such an end that we no longer even realize the difference of his race, then we truly will be post racial.

While Matthews may not have put it very eloquently and while he will no doubt be misinterpreted, his observations are valid and very important. We have a Black President, yes, but tonight maybe we have come to a place where he is simply the President, nothing more, nothing less.

Not offensive, probably meant something CLOSE to well, but just never a good thing to say, IMO.

I often have people tell me, with shock in their voice, "WOW....you're really well spoken!", and even one person say (after speaking to me on the phone), "I didn't expect you to be black".

It's one of those things where you slap your forehead, because those people don't MEAN to be, or come across as, ignorant/offensive.

I actually agree with Matthews, to the extent that BHO's race was not a factor in my observation of the speech.

I just do not adhere to his big government agenda.

The dude could be blue or magenta for all I saw.

His words are all that matter, and for me, the words are nothing I see that will better the lives of Americans like myself.

I really didn't find it offensive, just a poor choice of words.

This was basically my thought. There was nothing wrong with the content of what he said, but because it wasn't well thought out and off the top of his head, it just came out sounding wrong.

Why would he even bring it up? Were the clowns Olbermann and Maddow up there talking about how black he is and Matthews said he didn't even notice? He just said something foolish because he panicked when he just blew a load in his pants after listening to Obama's speech.

I've got to be honest, I've probably heard him say worse, but I also don't follow talking heads too much.

There's a difference between offensive and stupid. To be honest, I'm just not sure that many people can distinguish the two, regardless of political party.

It will be played on FOX and conservative radio... THAT is for certain.
