Hey guys need some feedback here. In the wrestling forum in the Ohio Capital Conf thread some posters were talking about a Marysville wrestler and injuries. The coach PM'd me and asked his kid not be talked about by name. I removed it as his request, I have no problem with that. I edited the post and PM'd the poster, since then I have had to edit his post two more times for going back and editing them and putting the kid's name back in it. I PM'd him and CC'd Justin as well. Thoughts on this situation though, it can happen in any HS board when mentioning kids by name!

Would you delete the kids name if asked?

If asked, I think it's a good idea to delete the name. It's probably a good idea to delete the names on these sort of issues in general.

Yeah..if asked I would. Especially if it's a coach.

Agree that is what I did, I removed the name from the post, then the poster went back and put the name back in so I sent him a slap PM.

Yes I would delete it if a coach asked me too.

We need to remember that many of these kids are minors and that's a whole mess we don't want to get into.

Okay, just between us mods, I'm intrigued as to why the Marysville coach is so paranoid about Marsh's name being posted. No one ever cares if it's a post saying he won a tourney, etc.? I've thought is somewhat strange that he hasn't competed for at least 2 weeks and not a word has been mentioned about it. Perhaps it's not an injury that's kept him out and that's why he wants no mention of him on here???? Interesting....

Possible but I don't know the reason why just thought I would honor his request. Also the minor thing entered my mind too, if people are posting things and using real names that aren't true, they open themselves up for trouble.

I'm just curious because my son will be in his weight class so I keep track of the top wrestlers and wondered why we hadnn't heard anything about him. Certainly, if the coach requested it to be removed it's the right thing to do, I was just gossiping a little. ;)

Let's see if he wrestles in the match then, they can post the results with his name nothing can be false about that! It must have something to do though with possibly injury not being true and the coach just not wanting the kid's personal matter out there for the world to see/speculate on.

Unless there are rumors being spread about the athlete in question... I really don't see how posting his name and results could be a big deal. Newspapers certainly don't get in trouble for posting high school results.

I would just tell whatever posters keep trying to discuss his injury to please leave speculation and possible rumors out of it.
