Delaware County Prosecutor Dave Yost today announced that he will run for the position of Auditor of State, seeking to fill a vacancy created when incumbent Auditor Mary Taylor was chosen by Republican gubernatorial candidate John Kasich to be his Lt. Governor running mate. Yost had been a candidate for Attorney General prior to his announcement.

He's qualified for either slot (he's been both a prosecutor and a county auditor). Why not help yourself and your party by sliding into the more recently vacated race, as opposed to staying and going against someone who has 30 years of built in support around the state?

I say this not even knowing how I'd vote in the race. I worked for Mr. Yost in the past and our relationship was a bit rocky at times, to say the least.

Dave was one of the first non-family members to hold me when I was a baby. He's a very hard nosed man, so I could see how some could have a rocky relationship. How closely did you work for him? I've probably met you in the past depending on that.

Anyways, Dewine and Yost are just very different on a lot of stances and it seems he was strong armed into this by the Republican party.

I doubt he was strong armed. Dave is a "company man" all the way. Plus, this gives him a much better shot of actually winning a statewide office than if he went up against Dewine.

As for your question: pretty close for (having a hard time remembering here) I guess about two years. I was directly under him in a state government position.

knowing Dave personally, no he isn't a "company man".

I think the shot at winning state office is what's going through his head. I haven't talked to him about anything politics for probably about 2 weeks now. He and Dewine are different candidates, in many different ways.

We'll have to agree to disagree on whether he's a company man or not. Maybe he's changed since I worked with him -- but I saw him do things back then that only a company man would do.

And the 25 years I've known him says he's not.

I just hope Taylor/Kasich wins...I need my gf to be employed
