According to ESPN's Ed Werder, Favre told him that it is "Highly Unlikely" he will ever play again.

I think setting a timeline or even asking about it is what creates the "madness". Just let the man do what he wants to do, or if you do set a timeline, have it be private.

Frankly, Ive heard this all before. I wont believe it until he isnt on a roster after the SB. The way he finagles around and plays people off each other I wouldnt be surprised it he came back for only the playoffs next year...

You know what? I don't care if he moves to Russia. Until the season starts and he is not with a team, he is coming back as I far as I'm concerned. Hell even when the season starts he'll probably still mess around with the idea of signing with a team.

I don't know why people get so emotional about Favre. It's obvious what he is doing. He doesn't want to/can't play a whole season+ a training camp beforehand. Thus he beats around the bush for the first few weeks of the season, is non-committal, and then arrives right at the end of the pre-season.

Typical Favre - he feels like a pile of crap after the end of a playoff loss and long season and can't imagine playing again. Summer rolls around and he starts to get the itch. Then by the time training camps open, he is 100% and can't stand to give it up, feeling like he can still do it. More power to him if the Vikes or another team want him, it's his career.

Brett Favre will be playing until no team wants him. Reporters would have better spent their time asking Mark Sanchez if he played his last game yesterday than asking Favre.

The fact of the matter is Brett Favre is STILL one of the best QBs in the league. Until he's not and he feels he can't be, then he'll be a starting QB for some team. And if I'm the Vikings, I'm hanging onto him for as long as possible because if they keep him at the helm, they'll be dangerous.

Maybe said team wants to acquire a starter instead of waiting on the aging, waffling #2 overall passer to make his final decision in September. You know as well as I do that it is unlikely to obtain anyone who can put up Favre's numbers, but what if he decides to retire for real and you are left with Jackson and Rosenfels? My entire point is, don't put all your eggs in one basket - especially one who has issues making a decision and sticking with it. Right now, you pursue someone like Jason Campbell, Kerry Collins or even Donovan McNabb.
