For the first time, Orlando is hosting the nation's oldest senior all-star game. The 85th East-West Shrine Game features seniors from throughout the country eager to prove themselves to NFL scouts, coaches and general managers. Last year, 95 of 105 players on the East-West Shrine Game roster were either drafted or signed by NFL franchises. Teams selected 44 of those players in the NFL draft. The 2008 NFL open day rosters, practice squads and injured reserve lists featured 307 East-West Shrine Game alumni.

Looked at both rosters. Both were a little underwhelming. Apparently the other bowl poached all the talent

Good luck to Chris Thomas from Air Force. He is an Ohio boy and represented very well throughout is entire career.

The Senior Bowl. It's next week.

Some of the notables for that one are:
Tim Tebow
Ben Tate
Tony Pike
Dexter McCluster
Taylor Mays
Dan LeFevour
Stafon Johnson
Jerry Hughes
Brandon Graham
Mardy Gilyard

I'll be having a post made with my observations and positives and negatives.

I'm always excited for these games, and the Shrine Bowl is even more exciting this year with so much more talent.

I'm confused on how they split up the rosters. How is there a guy from Ohio University on the West team?

I've heard both ways about Doug. When that happens, you have to look at your source. Is it a credible scout from within the Ravens organization, or is it some guys that doesn't really know squat about football?

Look's like they are giving Schofield some time as a LB as well as DE. We apparently missed an INT by him earlier in the first thanks to us having to finish out the pointless game of WKU and MTS.

I think Barnes has a bright future in the NFL. He won't be a stud #1, but he could make his way as a #2 or #3 for a team. He's very smart, and runs such crisp routes.

I was thinking of going to this until I saw the rosters. Looks like the $150,000 grass is ok. Next Sat. the Monster Jam trucks are there, then they are putting in field turf. I just turned it on in the 4th qtr, was outside on a day like this.

what's up with the helmets? Some have stickers of other teams, while some don't...

That was fun to watch.
The helmet stickers are a Shrine game tradition, players bring them to trade with others.

Good times.

Nice but I'm being serious. He's from Great lakes and that's where I'm at and where Navy boot camp is at. He was huge, reminded me of that black guy from the green mile.
