My wife likes him so I don't get into that battle. Actually, there are a lot of entertainers that I would put well below Barry Manilow. Most of them started long after he did.

                                Here's one you like then....
Her name was Lola, she was a showgirl
With yellow feathers in her hair and a dress cut down to there
She would merengue and do the cha-cha
And while she tried to be a star, Tony always tended bar
Across a crowded floor, they worked from 8 till 4
They were young and they had each other
Who could ask for more?
At the Copa (CO!), Copacabana (Copacabana)
The hottest spot north of Havana (here)
At the Copa (CO!), Copacabana
Music and passion were always the fashion
At the Copa....they fell in love
(Copa Copacabana)
His name was Rico, he wore a diamond
He was escorted to his chair, he saw Lola dancin' there
And when she finished, he called her over
But Rico went a bit too far, Tony sailed across the bar
And then the punches flew and chairs were smashed in two
There was blood and a single gun shot
But just who shot who?
At the Copa (CO!), Copacabana (Copacabana)
The hottest spot north of Havana (here)
At the Copa (CO!), Copacabana
Music and passion were always the fashion
At the Copa....she lost her love
(Copa. . Copacabana)
(Copa Copacabana) (Copacabana, ahh ahh ahh ahh)
(Ahh ahh ahh ahh Copa Copacabana)
(Talking Havana have a banana)
(Music and passion...always the fash--shun)
Her name is Lola, she was a showgirl
But that was 30 years ago, when they used to have a show
Now it's a disco, but not for Lola
Still in the dress she used to wear, faded feathers in her hair
She sits there so refined, and drinks herself half-blind
She lost her youth and she lost her Tony
Now she's lost her mind!
At the Copa (CO!), Copacabana (Copacabana)
The hottest spot north of Havana (here)
At the Copa (CO!), Copacabana
Music and passion were always the fashion
At the Copa....don't fall in love
(Copa) don't fall in love
Copacabana
Copacabana

Not so fast my friend! I think he gets BAMF status for opening that can of worms. He should turn in his man card if he cries to the songs or thinks he's "cute" or has Mandy as his ringtone. Now that's creepy.Foul Tip wrote: TURN IN YOUR MAN CARD

I hope this is a cut and paste not something you typed from memory. You know the memory of playing the lead role in Billy Elliot for the Summerstock Community Theatre Group.Little Danny wrote: Here's one you like then....

His name was Rico, he wore a diamond
He was escorted to his chair, he saw Lola dancin' there
And when she finished, he called her over
But Rico went a bit too far, Tony sailed across the bar
And then the punches flew and chairs were smashed in two
There was blood and a single gun shot
But just who shot who?

Her name is Lola, she was a showgirl
But that was 30 years ago, when they used to have a show
Now it's a disco, but not for Lola
Still in the dress she used to wear, faded feathers in her hair
She sits there so refined, and drinks herself half-blind
She lost her youth and she lost her Tony
Now she's lost her mind!

Copacabana is a great story. I listen and sing along.....loudly. Or sometimes, I'll just speak the lyrics as though I'm telling the story myself.
I'm not sure why his show would be the most expensive ticket in Vegas, though. Is the stage in a closet?
And speaking of that, perhaps the dumbest text I have ever received came from a dude I know in Vegas who managed to "score" tickets to Manilow. His text said, "Barry Manilow pimpin'!!!" I always thought it was weird that when we hung out in Vegas, I went home with chics and he just went home. But now I understand.

This advertising thing is pretty cool. There is a Barry Manilow ad that comes up when I click on this thread.
