Have to admit, a little surprised seeing Matthews taking him to the woodshed there.

I always thought Matthews was fair and balanced...and not the liberal that Olbermann nor Maddow are. I agree that Matthews harped on Bush's Iraq war a lot...but one didn't have to be a liberal to do that.

He did the same thing to Rachel Maddow last night. In her case it was him trying to explain that the spending and debt are scaring people, and she wouldn't have any of it.

The "thrill up his leg" comment was not Tweety's finest moment, but he is somewhat insightful at times and not a pie in the sky liberal in the ED schultz vain.

Quite frankly liberals don't trust him because he voted for Bush in 2000. He turned on him later in his Presidency, but then again so did 3/4's of America.

He gets lumped in with Schultz, Maddow and Olberman, but is more an old school irish catholic reagan democrat than a Nancy Pelosi San Francisco liberal.

How the hell can Dean get on national TV and claim that Massachusetts voters elected a Republican to a traditionally Democrat-controlled seat to send a message to Congress that they want a public health care option?

If he honestly believes this crap he's more nuts that I thought....and to Thrilling Leg Matthew's credit he "explained it" to Dean. LOL

I wouldn't necessarily call him "fair and balanced." I mean let's not kid ourselves....he's as liberal as they come. What he does have going for him is that he's also pretty pragmatic and rational most of the time. You'll rarely if ever see him go into a mouth-frothing rant, ala Maddow/Olbermann. (And to some extent, Wild Bill/Beck et al.)

I saw about 45 seconds of this last night when I sat down and channel surfed a little bit. I didn't catch the point of it all, but I did think that Dean musta jacked Matthews about something LOL

Chris Matthews looks like an idiot in that video. He proposes a false dichotomy. The reason the voters voted is because of health care reform. He needs to prove that baseless assertion.

I actually think that both are right. They were just too egotistic to meet in the middle.

Dean - voters are tired of business as usual in DC
Matthews - voters do not want a progressive and massive government expansion on health insurance

I was never a Chris Matthews fan, but he is the most fair reporter on PMSNBC. It was a classic the way he tore apart Howard Dean. Matthews knows the Democrats are basically refusing to accept what they have been told by the electorate and he was trying to get Dean to actually admit that.

But Dean's stance is the same that you have heard from most Democrats since Tuesday. Pelosi, Dean, Olderman, and the rest of the far left Dems are in total denial that they have been told no and they have lost their fight. They are putting every spin in the world on it.

Obama is being surprisingly quiet on the issue. Leads one to believe that he knows the message he was sent and isn't sure what to say about it. His spin doctor David Axelrod is trying to place the blame everywhere (on Coakley, the Congress, the Right wing agitators, etc.) he can to avoid it falling on the President.

Harry Reid is just a flustered mess.... he has no idea what to do or say now. He knows that his bumbling and inability to keep his 60 Senators on course delayed the Health Care Bill long enough for this race to matter. He also sees the result in Massachusettes and knows that he faces re-election in 10 months in a state that is much redder than Massachusettes ever will be. His political life as both a Senator and Majority Leader is on life support.

Dennis Kucinich is blaming the moderate Democrats, President Obama, the Pope and several third world counties (and whoever else he can think of) for the failure of Health Care.

At least moderate Dems like Chris Matthews and a few Senators and Congressmen are saying, "ok, we get the message. This is going to fast and we need to step back and start over." Those guys might actually survive the Donkey Slaughter that will occur in November.

I knew the Democrtatic Party was in trouble this year, but I never imagined it would be this bad.
