Memphis entered the game on a 64-game winning streak in conference play and it was snapped tonight by the upstart Texas El-Paso Miners. UTEP won at FedEx Forum 72-67.

Memphis' was going for the all-time record for consecutive conference wins held by Kentucky at 64 in a row. For now, they will have to settle for a tie of the record as Josh Pastner's crew falls.

Hopefully this isn't an omen for things to come (Kentucky's fortune).

I'm glad the Wildcats are back where they belong -- there is no denying that it's good for the game; it just is; and, as Az knows, I've always had an admiration for Big Blue -- but I certainly don't want a UK title.

There are good, even great UK fans like Az, but I know some that are unbearable, especially over the last few months.

Funny you say that. John Calipari has won 64 consecutive conference games as well, which would be the all-time record for any single coach. He has also won 12 consecutive games in conference tournament play, and has had three straight 19-0 seasons in C-USA (an amazing feat IMO).

He will look to extend that streak Saturday when UK hosts John Pelphrey and Arkansas.

Definitely impressive. Despite all controversy, he can coach. There is no doubt about that.
