The Demon Deacons travel to Chapel Hill tonight to take on the Tar Heels in an important ACC contest. Wake is coming off a loss at Duke and sits at 2-2 in conference play, while Carolina has lost its last two games (Clemson & Georgia Tech) and desperately needs an ACC win after starting conference play with a 1-2 record.

Carolina will already be without the services of Tyler Zeller who is out 4-6 weeks with a stress fracture in his foot, but Ed Davis and Larry Drew II will also be game-time decisions this evening. Davis has a sprained ankle and Drew II suffered a hyper-extended knee.

I believe that Wake poses a lot of problems for Carolina with Aminu and McFarland inside, both of which are physical players. Ish Smith could also cause problems by getting into the lane, dishing to the big men, or kicking it out for some good looks on the perimeter. It's going to take a great defensive effort from the Heels to get the win. It's a MUST win situation for Carolina, in my opinion. They better bring the intensity from the opening tip and avoid digging themselves a huge hole like they did against Clemson and Tech.

Game is at 7 PM on ESPN. As part of the NBA-NCAA announcer swap, Van Gundy, Jackson, and Breen will be calling this game.

Apparently Davis is NOT playing, according to Mike Breen. Drew II is playing.

Thompson better play out of his mind tonight or Carolina is in trouble.
