Take a lot of practice tests. Once you start scoring 75 or greater consistenly, than you are ready. Its been years since I took it, but as I remember, it was fairly easy to rule out 2 of the answers on many of the questions. If you have your window, take more practice tests so you can concentrate your study on your weak areas. Good luck!

My current job requires it. I took it a year and a half ago. It wasn't that hard IMO. However, I actually like finance and I found some of the material interesting.
If your job gives you the book with practice test TAKE the tests, especially if they give you the CD-ROM version. The questions on the CD are almost identical to the questions on the test. My strategy was to learn each chapter and score above 80% (consistently) on the practice tests before moving to the next section. That helped a lot because I felt a lot more comfortable with the material.

Don't wast your time on the 6. Go ahead and take the Series 7.
If your are going to put in the time to prepare for one of these securities tests you might as well get your 7.
