I didn't want to sabotage Fab's Cancun thread, so while we're on the topic of vacations....
The farmer and I will be going on our honeymoon next December while I'm on winter break and right now I'm thinkin the wamest place to be in teh middle of December is Jamaica, but there just might be a better place....
We're not super picky but want it nice and hot and beach ready. Looking for all-inclusive type thing and don't want to go nuts on spending. Cruises are out....boo to them for honeymoon.
Where did you guys get dragged to by your wives for your honeymoons?

We went to Gatlinburg for ours. Got a nice secluded cabin up in the mountains for a week. Very nice. Found out you can get some GREAT deals by not making reservations beforehand too!

I wouldn't go to Jamaica, not the nicest Caribbean Island. I guess Breezes or something like that wouldn't be bad. I would go to a nicer Island like Grand Cayman, St. Thomas, Aruba, Barbados and other Islands like that.

I didn't go there for the honeymoon but if you want warm and privacy, go to "MAUI". Go past Hana and there are lots of little beaches that are private. You just have to look for them.

Aruba, it's further south than Jamaica, closer to the equator, and has a constant 82 degrees pretty much year 'round. Ask me or justin any questions you may have.

I am actually going to Sandals - St. Lucia for my honeymoon in December. Known as being one of the nicest Carribbean islands.

I went to Jamaica for my honeymoon 7 1/2 years ago and for the price you can't beat it. We stayed at Sandals Dunn River Falls. There is actually another Sandals couple minutes away so it was nice you could go to both (Ocho Rio). The hotel was awesome - food, drinks, and doing the falls was fun. So if only want to be beach bum it is great, but outside of resort it is not very nice (very poor!!) The bus ride to the resort you saw things you have never seen before. I have never been anywhere else to compare out side of US - that is my 2 cents.

My fiancee and I have our honeymoon choice down to either Aruba, or Punta Cana. It's going to come down to wherever we can get the best deal.

My brother and SIL went to Punta Cana and loved it and I also know 3 couples who went to St. Lucia and they all had fun as well. I would just pick a couple favorites and then try to get the best value.

We went to Sandals Dunn River Falls about four years ago for our honeymoon. AWESOME experience - but like previously mentioned the bus ride there is interesting.

I just got off a cruise that included a stop in Jamaica, and i would not go back, it was beautiful, but as others have stated outside of the resort you would be at it is not very nice. If you just want to lay out and drink i'm sure it would be fine at an all inclusive resort, but if you would want to move around the island, i don't think Jamaica would be the place for you.

I loved Jamaica. BigAppleBuckeye and I went there last year for Valentine's Day and had an amazing time. We stayed at Breezes in Runaway Bay. Pretty solid all-inclusive, with decent food, but I did get a bit tired of it toward the end of our trip. I would say that for a honeymoon I'd go with something a little nicer.
As for our time there, climbing up Dunn's River Falls was awesome as was swimming with the dolphins.
I will say that though it is a poor country, the locals are very friendly (even if they do try to persuade you into buying stuff from them). One of the best things we did was walk down the beach, off the resort property to this little fish stand right on the water. Best food I ate on the whole trip and we met some really interesting people there.

Word. Not sure how many "all-inclusives" there are on the island, though.tuskytuffguy wrote: Aruba, it's further south than Jamaica, closer to the equator, and has a constant 82 degrees pretty much year 'round. Ask me or justin any questions you may have.
