Can't halp ya much. Last time I was there was in 89. The Mirage was just being built. It's a totally different city now.

I don't know anything about old LV...I was only on the strip when I went. Seach for the cheapo las vegas web site it lists just about everything.

Going for my 11th time in September for my bachelor party! My advice: splurge a little. Spending a little more cash than expected in Vegas will enhance the experience. In my college years, I did the "cheap" Vegas experience ... it was ok. I recommend bottle service at the GhostBar atop the Palms, they take care of you there. And eat at Spago, the place is unreal! And if you are into, umm, other types of entertainment, then Spearmint Rhino is the spot!

Try your luck at the blackjack tables.

Stay away from roulette and shotgun.

Best nightlife - Rio
Best location for the money - Flamingo (right in the middle of the strip)
gambling - craps craps craps craps (they have free lessons if you don't know how to play)
best sports book - Ceasars
best strip club (on the strip) - Olympic Gardens

Not sure if you have been to Olympic Gardens lately, but its horrible now. I went in the late 90s, when it ruled Vegas, but now its many levels below the Rhino.

Agree with Caesars as the best sports book, but I think the Palms is the best hotel for nightlife, as it has GhostBar, Rain and the Playboy Club. Voodoo Lounge at the Rio has a nice view, but the element there is sketchier than other places.

Found this site to be quite helpful as far as attractions and things go.

If you get a chance, check out the pool at the Mirage. It's open to the public and is one of the coolest pools you will ever see. Caesars is awesome and check out the Fountains of Bellagio. Go at night and if you can watch the last one at midnight, it is incredible. Even better is watching the fountains from the Eiffel Tower in the Paris Hotel. Do this at night and you get an amazing view of the city and once you get up there, you can stay as long as you want.

Problem with staying downtown is you will drop some cash on cabs each time you want to go to the strip. Don't walk from downtown to the strip as we made that mistake and it was miserable. As for gambling, we had a lot of luck at Treasure Island playing blackjack and war. Caesars certainly has the best sports book though. There is really so much to see and do that you can't do it all in 4 days. Enjoy yourself and splurge a little since it's Vegas and what happens there stays there; except for Herpes of course.

I second bottle service at GhostBar. You can get VIP for all 4 clubs in Palm for $75 (Jan. 08) if you go there the day before. I like Tryst which is located in the Wynn but the best part of it is the outdoor waterfall that the dance floor opens up to. Might be too cold for LV standards so they may have the glass doors closed.

Bellagio was my favorite sportsbook. They still give out free drinks no matter what you bet...or at least they did back in March.

Personally I would rather go off the strip to gamble. I like Green Valley Ranch in Henderson. Slots are pretty loose, sports book is nice, cheap black jack during the day. It was only a couple blocks from my in-laws so I hit it all the time.

Fitzgeralds is my favorite Downtown gambling haunt. They still have some single deck Black Jack. But the Nugget has one of the best buffets in all Vegas. Ballys on the Strip is great for watching games, stadium seating with individual screens at each seat plus big screens up front. Best free show is the Floating Parade at Rio in the eraly evening and they have some great bar specials while the Parade is going on. If you have a car take a quick 15 min drive up I -15 to the just opened Aliante Casino in North LV. Lots of $5 minimum tables on weeknights and due to attendance being so down they are running some unbelievable specials on food and drinks at Aliante right now. Aliante is run by the same group that owns Red Rock which has always been known as the best off-the-strip casino in Vegas.

We're staying at the Bellagio so I presume they have a pretty good sportsbook. I'm not that big of a gambler other than sports so hopefully that is fine. Saturday is the big dinner night so I have no control over that, but I might be by myself for most of Friday (hotel roomate isn't arriving until midnight), any particular spot for a "lone wolf?"

Hey Manhattan - check out Coyote Ugly bar at NYNY or go over to Hooters Casino across side street from MGM. best two pick-up bars on the Strip. Hard Rock usually has some single ladies action too.

Bellagio is my favorite sportsbook. Try getting to the book early or try to get one of the recliners reserved. I assume they still have the leather recliners up front, but haven't hung out at their book the last few times I was in Vegas.

I don't know about the Coyote Ugly suggestion. Anytime I have looked in there it's like 95% dudes.

I do agree with the Hard Rock option.

Yeah, Coyote Ugly sucks ass (shit, the real Coyote Ugly in New York sucks ass) ... avoid it. I would hang in the MGM if I had to pick one place, plenty to do there. Or pony up the cover charge and do the "European Pool" (translation: topless) at Mandalay Bay.

If you walk along the Strip, there will be plenty of guys (most of whom speak no English) handing out cards advertising hookers.

Now, they do give a bulk discount. Let's say it's $100 for an hour with one girl. You can get TWO girls for $150 an hour. Or they'll throw in a third...then it'll usually be something like $155 an hour for all three. I'm guessing the third girl is missing a leg or is in a wheelchair or is 95 years old; I was too scared to find out.

Vegas is an incredible city!! I have never been there for a bachelor party, or ever looking for a babefest. (Happily married)

You can spend a week in vegas, never leave Ceasar's Palace and have a great time. Some of the restaurants include:
- Wolfgang Puck's Spago and an asian themed rest
- Bobby Flay's Mesa Grill
- The Palm Steakhouse
- Rao's (Original is in Harlem and supposedly you can't get reservations.... they are always booked with regular customers)
- Stage Deli - Ginormous Deli sammies - original in New York.. I recommend the pastrami and corned beef on rye.. with cole slaw.
Plus many more places to eat, and nightclubs to enjoy.

Great restaurants are everywhere, I have eaten at the Buffets at The Bellagio, and The Wynn (Both around $40.00/$45.00 including tip). Both are great. I hear the seafood buffet at the Rio is awesome, never been there. Most famous chef's are now represented in vegas... look up the ones you like.

I like the sportsbook in ceasar's, but I prefer The Bellagio's, and The Wynn's. The Mirage is nice if the Rodeo is not going on in December.

Gambling wise... I am a big fan of Blackjack. It is getting hard to find tables that use a six deck shoe, and pays blackjacks more than 6:5. You can find em, but most casinos only have one or two tables open that, pay more than 6:5 and do not have automatic shufflers.... I loathe them. I do not play slots (big house advantage) The table limits go up throughout the day. If you are at a blackjack table and they raise the limit, they will let you continue playing for the original amount, as long as you don't leave the game.

I do not do strip joints... fake tata's all look the same for the most part, and you can do that anywhere. No recommendations here... sorry.

Unlike the late 80's/early 90's, vegas is relatively expensive to eat/drink now. You can still find great deals if you want, but you gotta work at it. I had a buddy buy a double grey goose on the rocks at the Mirage $ 22.00. So if you are just hanging out and having a few juices, it will cost ya. They still give out freebies while you are gambling.

When I was there last summer, I won most of my money at the Flamingo, O'Shea's, and Bill's Gambling Hall and Saloon. All are right in the middle of the strip, and next to each other.

I lost the most money at Caesar's, the Mirage, and Paris.

Check out Casino Royale...$1 bottles of beers all day every day.

If you're looking for a cool place to hang out, check out Carnival Court near Harrah's. It's an outdoor bar and they usually have live music, free cover, and $2 Coronas. The bartenders do all that crazy show stuff, too...which is pretty cool to see.

Yep, that's what i've heard is the best way around.

I think they also said the price is 7.00 now which shouldn't break the bank I hope.
