Anyone ever been to Wheeling Island? A group of us are headed there in a few Weeks. It will be our 1st time there.
What are some of the things that We should check out? And some of the things We should try to avoid?
Any advice,Tips or pointers Would be greatly apreciated..

I've only played poker there...it's ok. Don't play the tournaments though, they take up to around 33% on some tournaments. Other than that it's your typical casino...slots, table games, etc..... I saw a couple $5 craps tables on Friday, so that's a plus. Haven't tried the food or anything else.

I go there a few times a year, since it's only about 8 miles from where I live. I always enjoy it, and the casual service is always pretty good.
I've always had good experiences there and at the very least, went home flush. I love to play the table games, but unfortunately, the last time I was there about a month ago, they didn't have pai gow poker yet.
Believe it or not, I actually think the penny slots are the most fun to play as far as slots go. But then again, I'm not that big of a fan of slots.
The buffet they have (in the back of casino) is pretty good. I can't remember the name of it though.
Is this just a few hour trip or are you planning to stay overnight?

My wife and I always do well at Wheeling Island compared to some other casino's. I just normally play blackjack and the wife is a slot machine fiend. She claims the slots are a little "looser" than some other casino's we hit (and we hit all of the one surrounding the state). If you go to Wheeling Island during the week, I think they still have $5 blackjack tables.
While in Wheeling make a point to go visit Oglebay Park, shop at Cabela's, and eat a Coleman's fish sandwhich downtown.

Been there a few times the last couple of years either on the way to or from a steelers game. Im not a gambler so i cannot compare the place to others...i just sit at a slot and donate my 20 bucks....but the others who do gamble more really like it since they got table games a year or two ago.

Good suggestions. I love shopping at Centre Market at the used book store, Puddle Ducks, and the cheap and crappy antique stores lol

Wheeling Island is the #1 greyhound track in America. I would suggest betting on the dogs, you can lose your money less quickly. Plus, on Friday afternoon, they have draft beer and a hot dog for a dollar at the trackside concessions.

Greyhound racing is disgusting, how anyone can be for it after seeing the abuse that animals suffer is beyond me. And Wheeling is no better than others, in that regard.

Regarding Texas Hold Em, remember there are two different tables. There is a table upstairs where you play against the dealer and a few tables downstairs where you play against everyone else at the table. Be weary: the folk downstairs are a salty bunch and you will likely loose your wad much quicker down there.

Rooms are nice enough, adequate for two. They also have suites.
