It sounds like the Reds are just short of going into fire sale mode, but have made it clear they are going to cut salary this year. They will not pick up Ramon Hernandez's option, but they are trying to renegotiate with him. Harang, Arroyo, Phillips, Cordero, Rolen, Tavares, and Rhodes have all been rumored to be on the block. Votto was rumored, but Jocketty quickly stomped all over that little fire. Who should go, who should stay?

I was listening to Mike and Mike yesterday morning and they were talking about this. Basically they are selling and not even thinking about buying. Makes me sick.

Castellini is a shit head. I have a feeling I'm going to end up taping a note to the gate to his driveway sometime soon since I live so close to him.

My question then would be, "Why the hell did they trade two young pitchers and EE to Toronto for an aging, injury-prone and expensive Scott Rolen in a season they weren't competing if they were just going to start selling players off?"

Yeah, that was beyond confusing. I can't figure out why that deal was made. You just know the Reds are going to pay for that move.

The Scott Rolen deal still makes my stomach ache. Based on what I have heard, they are trying to dump a salary so that they can make moves to have viable outfielders. Think how nice it would be if we hadn't resigned Edwin and then proceeded to trade him for Scott Rolen and his 15 million. We would have so much cap room to work with and we could have signed a Joe Crede for a third of what we are paying Rolen.

On a side note, I do hope that they get a deal done with Hernandez that is in the 2-3 million range. I think he is a servicable catcher while trying to align all of the pieces.

If they get rid of Phillips I'm gonna be soooo pissed. This team is close!!! I really believe that. Don't ruin that now!!!
