Unlike the past few years with higher expectations, this ND team is flying under the radar. Can't help but like Ben Hansbrough. The kid was always tough as nails. I wish he wouldn't have left MSU.

Amazing that with one timeout left, and all those coaches on the sideline, that that was the best final shot that they could get.

It was a pretty awful shot. WVU just doesn't have a go to guy besides Butler and he was 4-19 before that shot.

Interesting stat:

Free throws
WVU: 2-4
ND: 17-24

Tends to happen at ND so we've come to expect that.

Wow. Hard to believe that ND almost blew that huge lead.

Pretty good effort by WVU to come back, but apparently they came up just short.

Another interesting stat:

3-pointers made/attempted
WVU: 12/37
ND: 7/13

Drive to the basket once in a while and you might get to shoot more free throws......

Also, 19 fouls called on WVU to ND's 12....not that big of a disparity.

Not really all that interesting when you failed to completely analyze your stats:

WVU: 27-72 - 37 3 pointers - 35 fg attempts
ND: 23-43 - 13 3 pointers - 30 fg attempts

So WVU attempted more non 3 point shots than ND and still only shot 4 free throws.

ND was in bonus the last 10 minutes of the second half. The most hilarious foul of night is when Jackson tripped forward and knocked Mazzulla down and they called the foul on WVU.

Over half of WVU's shots were from behind the arc. Even though they attempted 5 more non 3 point shots than ND....they spent the majority of their time on offense shooting from the perimeter. Teams that do that tend to get less foul calls. Approximately 2/3 of ND's shots were 2-pointers while over half of WVU's shots were 3-pointers.

^^^^^

The percentage of shots doesn't matter when you are talking about number of fouls called. In the end, WV still had more shots from inside the arc than ND = greater probability of fouls being called.

Good win either way though.

I can admit that my argument wasn't very strong, but I hate the whining about officiating that goes on these days.

Your team got beat. STFU about the officiating and deal with it rather than rambling on with your sour grapes and excuses.

It's only whining if your so called "whining" isn't backed up by statistics. My argument was clearly backed by statistics thus making it simply a fact.

Unless you have statistics that break down how many jump shots each team took as opposed to how many times they drove to the basket.....you're just whining.
