You Have To Feel Bad For Colt McCoy

Whether you like him or not, you have to feel for the guy. He's the winningest QB in the history of college football and has led his team to the national title game, yet on the first series of the game, he gets knocked out with a shoulder injury.

I'm not sure if the Horns would have had enough for Bama tonight, but the game could have been completely different with Colt in there leading his team. With McCoy at the helm, those first two mistakes by Bama could have been much more costly.

Not trying to make excuses for Texas since I don't really have a favorite in this game, but I do respect McCoy and the Texas program. It's a shame that he doesn't get the chance (unless he comes back in the 2nd half) to try to lead his team to a title in his final game.

Yeah, Gilbert has been put in a tough situation, but there are better days ahead for him. Colt never gets to put on the Texas uniform again after tonight. I feel a little worse for him.

Gilbert is a VERY good QB, but he's in a no win situation.

He and Bradford can rehab their shoulders together and talk about how high they would have been drafted last year

I think you're misinterpreting the thread. Can you imagine how he feels right now? What a heart-breaking way for your college career to end.

Yeah, he's gonna go on to the NFL and make a lot of money, but this is just a terrible break for the guy tonight.

I really do feel bad for him. He seems like a good kid and you can't argue his success in college. He's one of the hardest working players in college football and this was supposed to be his chance to end his great career at the highest of highs.

Well I don't think McCoy was going to be drafted that high so I think it might have been a weird conversation.

Class guy from a class program- feel bad for McCoy, but not sure if Texas had enough for Bama even with him.

Ted Ginn Jr., anyone?

From a personal stand point, I experienced something like it. Worked my ass off in baseball, poised to have a big senior year, then broke my wrist about half way through the year being hit by a pitch....so it's easy for me to feel for him. I missed out on a lot of opportunities that I set myself up for and it'll be something that I'll always be bitter about. I can't imagine what McCoy is going through because that's on a whole other level.

Exactly. He has been working toward this night his entire football career. All the hard work and sacrifices were for this night, the chance to win a national championship. Then, on the first drive of the game, it is all taken away. Just devastating.

I just can't believe that Texas didn't have a better back-up QB. Given that McCoy runs the ball on occasion and they call designed run plays for him, you'd think they'd have a plan B just in case. This kid is horrible.

I feel for him...but that's when having sports in their proper context would pay off. Still, in this moment....very tough to deal with, no matter what.

Similar, but McCoy is way more valuable to this Texas team then Teddy was to OSU
