Get out the Vick vapor rub. My wife and I are pretty health people but the flu bug hit us hard.
Starts off with a sore throat, move to the head type cold and into the chest. We've been battling this for about 4 days now, we are getting better. We heard that this flu bug is going around anyone else experience this flu.

For those of you who want to know, yes when I got the sore throat I put Vick on my chest and in my nose at took a spoon full and let slide down my throat, it relieve the pain and soreness.

We been drinking hot toties at night : Hot tea, honey, lemon and shot of jack
Cold toties during the day: ginger ale, honey and brandy

Between meds and toties the wife and I are almost in the state of mind we where back in the 60s

It is not flu season. You do not have the flu.

Additionally, the symptoms you describe are not within the constellation of symptoms typically associated with influenza. Quit telling your friends you have the flu.

Edit for Belly: People with the flu can have your symptoms, but if the symptoms you mentioned are all you have, it's not influenza.

Common cold, also known simply as a cold, is a viral infectious disease of the upper respiratory tract that primarily affects the nose. The throat, sinuses, and voice box may also be affected. Signs and symptoms may begin less than two days following exposure. They include coughing, sore throat, runny nose, sneezing, headache, and fever.

You just wanted a reason to eat more Vicks.

"A warning has been issued about the popular cough and cold treatment Vicks VapoRub. ... It contains camphor which is toxic if swallowed or absorbed into the body and the manufacturers do in fact warn that VapoRub should not be applied in or near the nostrils and not used on children under 2 years of age.Jan 13, 2009"

Goon is a pharmacist. I'm going to side with him on this one vs the guy drinking Vicks and Jack Daniels for a fucking cold.

I have the exact same symptoms as Belly, and have informed people I think I have a cold if they ask why I'm blowing my nose so much. I only go flu if I am throwing up, have a high fever, and feel like I'm going to die.

Never had the flu (knock on wood) and only get a cold once every two years or so. So basically, I feel fine.

Hope you feel better soon, though.

You're whining about a cold/allergies. I'd venture to say you're not built that hard. Hope that helps.

Why are the flu shots available so early this season? I can't remember a time where flu shots were available in August, let alone mid-August. I feel like waiting until October is the best approach to the flu shot. Does timing matter?

A lot of immunologists believe it's a money-making scheme. The data supporting duration of immunity is mixed; a couple of studies showed the efficacy can decrease over the course of a long flu season, but several others have shown it can be effective at one year or longer. My hospital requires all employees have flu shots by 10/31, so I'll get mine at the beginning of October.

I've not bothered with a flu-shot for over 15 years. Getting sick depends on your surroundings. No doubt working in a hospital you're around shit that spreads easily.
