The death of your pet is a sad and emotional situation. But to watch it happen is even more heart breaking.
Our 15 year old Golden hasn't eaten in three days, can't move and sleeps all day. We called our vet asking what we can do. He knows Murphy medical condition and suggested to make him comfortable and wait it out. The moving to the vet for a shot to put him down would just be a difficult and stressful for both he and I.
We have made him confortable on the front porch where he like the sleep durning the day, his favorite toy, ball and his bed.

That sucks.

Week and a half ago my wife took our 3 puppies for their first vet visit to get the initial vaccines. Within minutes all 3 were basically dead and she rushed them back to the vet. One died, the other had to spend the night there and still isn't right and they are looking to put her down if she does not snap out of it. The third recovered within a few hours.

Now there is a back and forth between the vet and vaccine company as to what happened. Seems odd all 3 would suffer immediately if there wasn't something wrong with the vaccine or administrating of them

So sorry for both of you.

Wow! this looks like a law suit waiting to happen ... I would settle for free vet medical for the reaminder of your life and any pets you own... That really really sad... sorry what kind of puppies

Sorry to hear, Belly. Hope he has a great day, and I'm sure he's happy you're spending it with him.

Thavoice, that's horrible. There has to be something wrong with the product... even if there was an allergic response, I have to think it would be uncommon to occur for all three pups. Hopefully the sick one can make a recovery.

We 're just looking for answers to be honest. Both sides are pointing to one another. They did still charge us for the vaccines and other stuff which I think is pathetic,

The vet is saying it's genetic but all 3? Same reaction within minutes?

I'm not able to meet with the vet to sit down and talk about it so its up to my wife to deal with it all the while tending to the sick pups.

Complete garbage if you ask me!

Last year my 3 year old cat got sick out of the blue. He started laying around more than usual and he was barely eating or drinking. I told my girlfriend that if he didn't improve by the morning, that we would take him to the vet. Well he didn't improve so we called the vet and they got us in later that day. The vet examined him and after checking his gums, he realized his liver was failing. He told us that there wasn't anything we could do and that he was only go to get worse. We decided to take him home in hopes he wouldn't suffer too bad and we could bury him at our house. Well the next day he started stumbling, falling, and then puking. It was too much for me. I said bye to him and my girlfriend took him to the vet to be put to sleep. It's sad to begin with but the fact that he was only 3 made it that much worse.

We had to put our cat down after 18 years because her organs began to shut down. Even though it was one of the more difficult decisions I had to make, I convinced my wife that our cat's quality of life was non-existent, and putting her down was the only humane thing to do. My wife cried the entire way to the vet, cried while we were there (she refused to go in the room with me while the vet administered the shot), and cried all the way home. I was much calmer than I thought I would be throughout the whole ordeal, until the morning, when I cried like a fricking baby. Yeah--that was rough.

This is getting more difficult to watch .... If he does pass away by morning I will take him to the human society to put him down and get his ashes.....

Three different 24 hour Veterinary hospitals in Akron but if your dog isn't suffering, hopefully he passes peacefully while asleep. Less stressful for you and the pet.

My sister recently got a new dog after a month or so of mourning over her last, which was pretty much the same situation as you. Old age finally caught up.

This thread sucks. Can't imagine. I have the happiest damn dog in the world. I won't do well when the time comes.

My cousin just rushed her lab to the vet about 2 hours ago...he has parvo. Hopefully the caught it soon enough.

Very tough...losing a little buddy. When we had to put our last dog down, I thought to myself, "I am not doing this again...it's just not worth it." About 6-9 months later, we got a new little fella because we couldn't stand the house being "empty". I think I will always have a dog. They teach a lot and I think maybe their passing helps to teach us to have gratitude.

Just got word 5 minutes ago the second puppy died. When you take 3 healthy pups in for routine shots 2 of them should not end up dead...

Belly, sorry to hear what you're going through.

We have three aging dogs (10, 9, 9) so we'll be dealing with their declines soon enough. They are smaller dogs, and still have a lot of energy, but you can tell they are starting to slow down quite a bit. Cincinnati has a pet hospice service that we'll probably look into when the time comes. You pay a yearly fee and get unlimited home visits, and when the time comes, it covers putting them down at your house.

thavoice, your situation is crazy. Something screwy is definitely going on, I hope you get answers soon.

Belly, so sorry to hear about this.

Losing a pet/family member is the worst. As Justin said, we have several cats that are aging and have had to already deal with putting two down (one kidney failure, one cancer) and had our oldest Persian have a seizure and die in my girlfriend's arms because we couldn't get her to the emergency vet in Canton due to a heavy snowstorm.

Many times, people without pets don't get it/understand how traumatic an experience it is to deal with losing a pet. It sucks.

Sorry to hear about your dog, Belly. All you can do is keep them close by so they know they are with their loved ones, and keep them comfortable. When my Min-Pin's time comes, I'll keep the bag of bacon treats close by, and it will be his day to eat as many as he can handle.

^ this. Best if you replace your pet with something from the humane society. Rescue a dog from a shelter, they'll love you more.

Very sad. My dog is 11 and I can tell he isn't as energetic as he once was. He still runs around and plays every day, but he has arthritis and moves a little slower than he used to. I am going to be a mess when the times comes. Like how many days can I take off work to grieve?

Indeed. Our third dog was a rescue (he was our first foster dog and we ended up adopting him pretty quickly), we'll always go that route in the future.

Murphy passed away around 10:30 we will get his ashes in a few days.
We will take his ashes down by the big pine tree where he liked to sleep under the shade
