Has anyone noticed which Ohio high school football team is alive in the "Massey Virtual National Championship" that is mentioned in today's USAToday newspaper? The champion will be crowned on Saturday.

Cardinal Mooney in the semis. Could the Virtual National Champion come from Ohio?
Side note...kinda sucks that only 2 teams from Ohio were in the mix...and sucks even more that Mooney and Davidson had to meet in the third round.

It's just good that Coldwater wasn't in it.sherm03 wrote: Cardinal Mooney in the semis. Could the Virtual National Champion come from Ohio?

Kettering Alter should have been involved. They received no love this year....not enough anyway. They had one of the toughest defenses of the decade and were not seriously challenged all year. Norwalk St Paul as well. They weren't seriously challenged as well and defeated a St John's team that could have competed with anyone.

We better hope that Don Bosco Prep wins this...we don't want to have to hear all these schools whining about recruiting too. LOL!

So....we all agree that Massillon's state championships are "mythical", right? Well, anyway, let's forget about that and talk about this national championship thingy on the computer.

By the way, Mooney lost to Don Bosco Prep in the finals.

Hey it means as much as Massillon's do. I just think it's unfair we had to play an allstar team like Don Bosco Prep. There should be separate championships

It's people like you that crack me up, deny the teams their due, but then during the season, get on threads and talk about why Mooney isn't ranked in USA Today, then get on threads like this and discuss "mythical championships".

Show me where I said anything about Mooney and the USA Today. I give any team that "earned" a title on the field their due.skank wrote: It's people like you that crack me up, deny the teams their due, but then during the season, get on threads and talk about why Mooney isn't ranked in USA Today, then get on threads like this and discuss "mythical championships".

As a Steubenville fan, I get sick of hearing people knock on Massillon. Big Red won state championships prior to 1972, and those years are painted on the side of our stadium along with the playoff wins. Massillon won their state championships the only way they could in the years prior to 1972. We Big Red people have great respect for Massillon's wins.

Nobody is knocking Massillon, OK maybe just a little, just the fact that the skank had to come on this thread and crap on it. If he wants to trash talk then he should be ready to take a little in return. Massillon has a great tradition but hasn't been able to reach that former height since the playoffs began. Until they do I think many people will always think of them as a "Paper" tiger.

The big difference is that Steubenville has won multiple State Championships on the field.........FairwoodKing wrote: As a Steubenville fan, I get sick of hearing people knock on Massillon. Both Steubenville and Massillon have had success in years when we didn't win the state championship. This past year, both teams made it to their respective state semi-final game. I think there are a lot of teams in this state that would love to be regional champ.Rocket08 wrote:The big difference is that Steubenville has won multiple State Championships on the field.........FairwoodKing wrote: As a Steubenville fan, I get sick of hearing people knock on Massillon. Success? Massillon has not won a championship during the tournament format, that is common knowledge, but despite being one of the smallest division I schools in the state, Massillon has had success. There are only three schools in the history of Division I football in Ohio, that have made it to the State Semi-Finals in every decade, Massillon, Canton Mckinley and Upper Arlington. Now you can say whatever you want, but that is long term success. Again, despite being one of the smallest D I schools in the state, Massillon has not dodged anyone, EVER. When Moeller was a power, Massillon put them on their schedule, when St. Joe became a contender, Massillon put them on their schedule, St. Ignatius....No, Massillon has not had alot of success against them, but, they have been on Massillons schedule for ten years now. Do I wish Massillon had a couple of championships during the playoff era? Of course I do, does their lack of championships during that time span mean they have had zero success? Of course not. I would consider the 2005 season one of the most successful of any team ever, Massillon makes it to the state championship game only to lose by seven points to a team that had twice as many boys as us, not to mention the "parochial advantage". So, if you're saying they have had no success to get under my skin, then that's one thing, if you actually believe it, I believe you have a problem.Rocket08 wrote:The big difference is that Steubenville has won multiple State Championships on the field.........FairwoodKing wrote: As a Steubenville fan, I get sick of hearing people knock on Massillon. My original post in this thread was meant half in fun, half serious. I didn't mean for this to be turned into a urinating match, if Massillon was in the same situation, I probably would have started a thread. So go ahead and have fun with it guys.
By the way, Massillon also has 9 national championships.

Why did the refs let the other team play with 22 guys? Massillon being open enrollment has the exact same "advantage" as anyone else.skank wrote:Massillon makes it to the state championship game only to lose by seven points to a team that had twice as many boys as us, not to mention the "parochial advantage".Rocket08 wrote:The big difference is that Steubenville has won multiple State Championships on the field.........FairwoodKing wrote: As a Steubenville fan, I get sick of hearing people knock on Massillon. Sorry, you're wrong, until the OHSAA allows Massillon to actually go out and visit kids and promote their school and program to said kids, thing will not change.
