Say your average six pack is $10-$15 dollars and you consume about 15 beers a week. Would you consider going with a keg, which is (approx) 55 - 12oz beers?
The keg costs are around one hundred bucks.

Still considering buying a keg refrigerator. Anybody have one?

I don't have one yet, but will be putting together a Keezer at some point over the next year. It will mostly be for kegging home brew as bottling is a PITA.

For $10-$15 I better be getting an 18-pack.

This was my exact thought. Now, there are several beers I would do a keg of. But I would rather have multiple choices at once.

How do people feel about growlers? How long can it keep unopened?

True. Was thinking their would be a cost savings but if any, its not much. That said, I could be pretty happy with Mystic Mama or White Rajah on tap.

If I was closer to Jungle Jim's, I'd be a fan.

Amazon delivered a 6-pack of Mystic Mama to my door in less than 2 hours. It was glorious.

Very nice! Never thought of that. Assuming me being in the middle of BFE immediate delivery isn't possible. Krogers in Troy offers convenient online grocery ordering, and they stock Mystic Mama.

I'd much rather sample various different throughout an evening than the same one for a growler let alone a whole keg.

You're talking about a sixth barrel? Good luck getting 55 12oz beers from approximately 669oz of beer. You're going to have waste, so assume you're down to 50 drinks. That's $2/drink. You're only saving $1/drink (your high end of 6-pks). Is that worth it to you being limited to 1 type of beer a month? If you are, then commit to it, because your second purchase will be cheaper once you've paid the deposit for the first keg.

Personally, I wouldn't want to be tied down to one brand. But if you really like something and want to save a little bit of cash, then go for it.

I'm guessing it's gonna be a minute before that is available in Mercer County!!!! Although with the beer consumption here, if I were Amazon i'd be adding us to the list!!!!

My zip also does not have it, wondering what breweries participate that I could not get locally, i.e. TreeHouse, CigarCity, RussianRiver

Yeah, I'm not sure how they determine what beer to stock. They had a lot of stuff from 2 or 3 local breweries, and some Jackie O's, and a bunch of cheap stuff.

Unopened it can last about a week. After you open one drink it within 2 days. I'd definitely prefer growlers to a keg.

My neighbor has a kegerator its nice to have but I know I wouldn't drink the beers fast enough. A lot of the time I just get free beers from him because he wants whatever hes got on tap gone to get something new.
