What is the one place you have to someday get to for vacation.

Growing up I always wanted to stay in an overwater bungalow on Bora Bora...and I was lucky enough to do this for my honeymoon.

My my new dream spot would probably be an African Safari or the Greek Isles.

Bora Bora would be sweet.

Scotland is my top destination, and it looks like that's going to happen in the next 5 years.

Not sure I have a dream spot. My husband's and my vacation preferences don't always mesh. I would love to go to Bora Bora, Fiji, the Maldives, etc. but that is not something he would be very into at all. He does love to travel, but can take or leave the beach/ocean.

I'd love to visit most countries in Europe and I would love to go to Australia. He would be very happy with those.

Australia/New Zealand combo is amazing. Did it last summer. Queensland, NZ is probably my favorite city I've ever been to.

My list is long, but right now I'd have to go with Japan. Tokyo then hit a few mountains for some of the best snow on the planet.

Next would be Greece/Italy for an extended solo trip.

Probably the Australia/ NZ combo. Have already been to a good amount of locations in Europe that would have been up there. For "beauty" the Maldives have always intrigued me, but unless I'm flying business class, a 24 hour travel day each way sounds terrible.

I've had several people I know go to the Maldives. They all said it was stunning regarding scenery, but not worth it in terms of price.

It's between doing a lot of Japan vs SE Asia for our honeymoon next October. Trying to see if we can work in enough time to work in both.

Edit: tapatalk for some reason quoted my post instead of auto's.

I've been to Mexico (so I'm kinda over being pampered on tropical type beaches) and Canada numerous times and the UK twice. I'd like to start planning on investigating more of Europe.
Italy - I've always wanted to tour Italy. Maybe a few days in Rome, but mostly I'd like to be off the beaten path and have fun with the various food and wines.

Went on just a one day African safari last weekend and it was pretty cool. I'm imagine there are much better ones and from what we 're told the best are the multi day ones that many visit. Just the whole culture in Africa, as you can likely guess, is quite amazing and makes me appreciate everything about the US much more. I would say if you are willing to spend the money to get here then the Safari is a must do. Where I am staying for 1 more night you have to watch out for monkeys or they will take food off your plate. I had one, or more, get into my room and eat the fresh bananas someone gave me off of their tree.

I hear also that Tanzania has great safaris as well and that brings in the poachers and ivory traders.

Yeah, we spent all our money on Bora Bora haha. Plus, my wife did the African Safari with her family (so dad paid for it). She doesn't need to go again until later in life. But yeah, they did the 5 day one where they are staying in the guarded "tents" in the middle and you hear the kills are night.

For all of you drooling over Greece. Turkey > Greece for vacation in all aspects. You're welcome (yes I realize Turkey isn't the most stable country lately).

How are the islands compared to Greece? I've heard good things about Turkey in general...along the coast. Cheap too.

My roommate left yesterday for Croatia then Greece. I'm bitter.

I would say they are equally amazing to see, except Turkey is cheaper and has better food. I am biased of course, but I have done both. Cesme is an amazing costal town, that not many people know about. I believe it landed on Forbes list of must see places. I have also had numerous people (with no connection to Turkey at all) tell me that Istanbul is hands down their favorite city they have ever visited. I think you would be a big fan, since you enjoy living in NYC.

I've heard good things about Istanbul also. A group of friends went last year for an obscure music festival in Romania. They flew from here to Istanbul and stayed a few days.

I was actually planning on doing a similar trip for the festival next year, but then I got asked to be in a wedding the weekend of the fest.

Weddings are ruining my plans for trips as well. This summer/fall has been the worst.

No desire at all to go to Asia...my FIL traveled the world as the QC manager for Jeep/Chrysler, and he's always raved that Australia had the most beautiful beaches anywhere--so I'd have to say that'd be my first choice of dream destinations.

I was only here for about 3 weeks. But Australia and New Zealand have the most beautiful everything, it seems.
