One of the things that sets Massillon apart from other schools is the dedication of the fans. It wasn't uncommon in the 80's, 90's and 00's to see 15,000 fans at a regular season game with well over 20,000 at the McKinley game.

The two biggest I have attended were the McKinley playoff game at the Rubber Bowl (I was gonna type RB for Rubber Bowl, but if supposed fans like 4skins doesn't know what Massillons logo looks like he sure as heck isn't going to crack that code), the week after the 100th game, there were 34,208 at the game. The University of Akron played earlier in the day with 2000 fans in attendance. The other was a playoff game with St. Ignatius again at the ....RB????....(Rubber Bowl) with over 29,000 fans there.

How has your school done attendance wise?

If your schools stadium only holds like 2000 people don't be embarrassed, it's ok....I think small stadiums are adorable.

HOLY COW!!! You have a city and metropolitan area of over 400k people and you can only get a very small fraction, roughly 1/20 of the population, of the town/city to show up to a game? I am even giving you the benefit of the doubt that half of the attendees could be from the other team. My god that is nothing to brag about. I live in a town of two thousand and there are roughly 12-1500 at the games every week. They had to build more stands cause of the amount of people showing up. Guess football really does not mean much in massillon.

.... chieftard, of course I know what RB stands for, why wouldn't I? The Rubber Bowl is where Mooney won its first "on the field" State Championship.Maybe if you live long enough (probably not) you'll see Massillon win one "on the field" instead of it voted (given) to them by some fish wrap hacks decades ago.

I was there to see all of ours won on the field and if they ever decide to play state title games again at Massillon, I'll invite you to come sit and watch Mooney win another one so you can almost feel what it's like to win a state title in football unless they have all you "Tiger insiders" too busy parking cars or working the concession booths.

Massillon has a population of 400K? The only time we get close to that is when we are running our combine to see who can bring in for next year.

My bad, a metropolitan area of 400k. I read the article wrong. I will have to retract my statement now. I stand corrected. It says the town has roughly 32k. I am very sorry for the mistake. lol

You say that half the attendees at Massillon games could be from the other team....Then, you say how your school has a WHOPPING 1200 people show up....(1200 lol)....I'm quite sure that all 1200 are from your school. Lol.

gosh a ruddies, Massillon has a great fan base. I mean they still support the paper tigers. 106 schools have won real Ohio football championships. Massillon has won none and the fans still show up to support such a mediocre program. Gosh Canton McKinley has won 3 real championship but nada for Massillon.

See, here's a classic example. You have an opportunity to brag on your fan base a little....But you choose to take shots at my school. How many people attend your games?

This. You have to give them credit for showing up despite the product the team puts on the field. Very similar to the situation Browns fans are in, except the Browns occasionally have NFL-caliber players to watch.

Gosh a ruddies, exactly, you really have to give Massillon fans a lot of credit. The fans of most teams would feel humiliated if their school was fined and put on probation for illegal recruiting. But Massillon fans are still bragging about the tigers even if they are cheaters. Now that is a loyal fan base.
