But the big one....The biggest one in the nation....The one that tops ALL rivals, is our rivalry with the Canton McKinley Bulldogs.

Documentaries have been done about it. One coming out soon is called "Timeless Rivals", books have been written about it. Sports Illustrated did a piece on the rivalry at the 100th game back in 1994.

I would argue that our greatest rival here at Massillon is with perfection. We have dominated the series with McKinley. They would have to beat us every year for the next couple of decades to even up the series. There is a greater chance of chiefy teaching Isadore how to spell than that happening.

Massillons biggest rival is....Basically....Everyone. See, when you're the best EVERYONE shows up ready to play....Everyone bring their A game....Everyone wants to be the one to knock you down a few notches. There are no off days when you're known as the team with the best everything....With the most recognizable logo in all of HS sports. With the nicest stadium....The nicest uniforms....The team with the most wins, with 24 state championships....9 National championships....The first to have turf....To have a video board....To have an indoor facility....

106 teams with championships, an Massillon has none. And they are not even in the big school division.

You are rivals with Moe, Elder & St. X in more than just football too, you all compete for and recruit the same kids.

Just think, if your coach at the time had gotten Hiawatha and D'juan to live in one of HIS houses, LaSalle may have won at least 1 playoff game in the 43 years they were in D I. Not to mention all the kids from Indiana, Kentucky and Michigan Moeller got. I know a big reason for your success is your drop to D II, but it appears you have really upped your game in the recruiting department. Kudos.

It makes it even sweeter that we outrecruited all of them for top lineman in Ohio last year, and he was right in their city.

Listen, Massillon has the two best rivalries in the nation with McKinley (#1) and Warren G. Harding (#2), but that doesn't mean YOUR school and their rival aren't adorable.

Massillon vs McKinley is coke vs pepsi....Chevy vs Ford....I know in comparison your schools are Mr. Pibb vs Tab....and Hugo vs Pacer, but we're still willing to listen to your stories.

The difference is, LaSalle....Being parochial, was given a green light by the POHSAA to go get this kid. Massillon was persecuted. If one week after coming to Massillon, the kids family had said they want to go to Moeller, Elder, St. X, Ignatius, St. Ed, Mooney, St. V, Hoban, or any other parochial school in the state, the POHSAA would be falling all over themselves to get this kid into one of those schools.

Wonder if the "H" in POHSAA stands for hypocrites?
