Twins passed up on the 17 year old phenom that many consider the potential "LeBron" of baseball. He is 17, incredibly well-spoken and intelligent....and btw clocks out at 102 mph.
Fuck yeah!

When did the Twins pass? I thought he was a no brained? In any case, thankful as a Tribe fan (que @FreezingColdTakes).

Is there a consensus timetable for when Greene should be ready for the bigs? From what I've seen of the kid I'm pretty excited the Reds were able to get him with the 2nd pick.

He's 17, so I'm just assuming we won't see him on the reds for another 3 seasons minimum. But I really have no idea.

Will be interesting to see how fast he develops and if the Reds want to start his arbitration clock sooner or later.SportsAndLady;1858677 wrote:He's 17, so I'm just assuming we won't see him on the reds for another 3 seasons minimum. But I really have no idea.

If he's ready soon enough I'd have no reservations starting his arbitration clock early. If the rebuild goes as planned the Reds should be serious contenders in 2019. If he's ready, bring him up. Win a championship and it doesn't matter if you lose a year of control.

When he can pitch and locate at 97+ and have a confident 2nd pitch....that's when I'd do it.

That's IF he pitches--it's widely known he's a helluva hitter, and may prefer to go this route (if given the choice, obviously)

He says he's good with pitcher. Harold Reynolds worked out with him at 2nd base and he assumed he was being drafted for SS/3B
Baseball Prospectus had him #1 SS and #1 pitcher

if he's planning on being in the bigs as a pitcher, he MUST stay in the NL with that swing...it's too good to waste in the ALIronman92;1859277 wrote:He is 17....throws 102....now watch this. Damn

MLB Network's Dan Plesac said he has watched over 500 videos since 2009 of every top pitching prospect for the draft----he said Hunter Greene was the best he's ever seen.
