Massillons 8th grade team needs games in weeks 1 and 7, any local VARSITY teams open on those dates. Orrville is a possibility but they can only fill one week.

Also Bundy pm'd me and said that any Wayne county varsity team probably should stay away from Massillons 8th grade team.

Why should they stay away? How are the varsity teams gonna get better if they don't play above their own skill level sometimes? I say to get better you have to play teams that are better. Wayne County varsity teams, come and get you some of the Tiger Jr. High.

I agree with you, Bundy is the one that said it.

Bundy usually talks a lot of sense, ya know with the "Massillon is the greatest" talk, but he's way way off on this one. Let's just use Orville as an example since their AD is considering a game between Orville's varsity and Massillons 8th grade team. The Orville kids who don't usually see many tough kids/teams plays Massillon 8th graders and they have to sink or swim. It makes them tougher.

Better tell your AD to hurry up and sign this contract Orville honks, the Massillon 8th grade vs Marion Local varsity talk is heating up.

Maybe Orrville and ML should just schedule each other. Nothing to lose, nobody gets hurt, nobody gets embarrassed by losing to an 8th grade team.

Idk about that, ML plays a better brand of small ball, a pretty darn good brand at that. Orville hasn't been the same since Justin Zwick upgraded to better accommodations.

True, but both would likely lose to Mass Jr high so just play each other.

Geezy weezy, I have it on good authority both Orville and ML varsities want a scrimmage with Massillons Jr. High. Kind of a feeling out process. After the scrimmage, If both or either feel they can compete it's likely that a contract will be signed for the following year.

Geezy weezy, I'm told this is a new direction that is going to be taking place a lot in the future. Smaller less competitive varsities scheduling regular season games with 8th grade teams from bigger, more successful programs.

Again, Massillon is a trend setter.

Again....You're welcome.

Does Massillons Jr high let them hang around to kind of sucker them into scheduling them the following season? Idk, possibly. Schools like Massillon have a hard time filling schedules, in turn, their Jr high programs feel the same rejections. Massillon was dominating Steubenville at all levels, reno cancelled the series. Same with Perry, although it's rumored Perry will schedule some jr high games with Massillon.

Marion's new, "move ins" could make this a closer scrimmage and or game than anticipated.

And to think Orrville used to be the ones who got all the move ins.

Geezy weezy, what will make it close will be the fact that no matter who you are....Massillon is the biggest game on your schedule.

Couple that with the fact that a varsity team will NOT want to lose to an 8th grade team, even one with the credentials of Massillon.

Now....On top of all that, ML has 2 "new" kids. Despite what y'all think, this won't be a pushover for Massillon
