the latest HOF elections have once again pointed out ...
1. the baseball HOF is one very exclusive and hard nut to crack, and...
2. the BBWA are some seriously misguided individuals.

although only a 20 game winner once; you have to consider that Blyleven pitched for some extremely marginal teams.
287 wins, .534 win pct.
Top 10 in ERA in the league 10 times.
Top 5 in K's 13 times
Top 10 in IP's 11 times
Top 5 in shut-outs 9 times
Consider that he pitched for some poor offensive teams in AL bandboxes...

Clearly his stats stack up with those of other HOF pitchers.
Plus, he was born in the Netherlands, which is kind of cool.

Just my two cents.

No reason for him not to be in.

Also a note..did anyone see on PTI that Jay Marietti said that he would not vote for Robbie Alomar this year because he didn't think he deserved to be a "first ballot HOFer" but still considers him a HOFer and will vote for him next year?

Home by eleven will be in next year, as will Alomar.

Personally, I feel the hall of fame is binary. You is or you ain't.

The people who won't vote for a completely obvious candidate to keep the "tradition" alive of no unanimous choices deserve a special place in hell. That's not tradition, it's perpetual stupidity.

This was, I think, the best Berman-ism ever.
