I thought this was pretty cool looking at some of the HCes that have some very nice contracts.

Most surprising thing to me was the Kent State golf coach at #13... Pretty funny he made $1 more than the Kent State football coach.Con_Alma;1844657 wrote:I thought this was pretty cool looking at some of the HCes that have some very nice contracts.

He probably went into the negotiations and said...whatever you're paying the football coach I want more.

If a given school's athletic department is self-supporting, I have no concern. State universities subsidizing money-losing programs from general funds are rightly the business of the state's residents in general, and its students in particular.Azubuike24;1844729 wrote:Ridiculous to be paying swimming and diving coaches $250K...

What's the argument for them to get paid that much?Azubuike24;1844729 wrote:Ridiculous to be paying swimming and diving coaches $250K...
We all understand Urban and the big shots....I'm surprised diving and a few others are six digits.

I would guess the argument would be if you're going to have these sports, the extra $100-150k to have a top-level coach is worth it. The following is certainly a more powerful statement than "yeah, we have those teams". What that's worth as a practical matter is debatable.Ironman92;1844737 wrote:What's the argument for them to get paid that much?

KSU men's golf - $569K
OSU women's rowing - $366K
Seriously ?!?!?!
And Keith Dambrot at over $900k at Akron, and now heading on to Duquesne; interesting.

The non-revenue sports still shock me. Basically, it's the athletic department just saying we're going to lose money for bragging rights of being good in these sports.
I'd be curious if niche sports that just completely dominate a sport and get a decent fan following ever make money? Like Iowa State wrestling or something in the past?

Cleveland St? Youngstown St? Those sports programs can't be making money, can they? Student fees and tax dollars to pay a golf coach $220k...really?!?!
