Do you see jimmy out there asking for a trade? Do you see him making public comments about wanting to be the starter somewhere?
No.
He seems like a low maintenance guy who is perfectly fine sitting behind brady for the next 2-3 years and then taking over from there. Obviously, he'll find a way to get his money where it doesn't hamstring the Pats.
I completely disagree. This is all about the patriots trying to get leverage since they have absolute zero leverage right now. Jimmy is a free agent next year and teams know they aren't going to tag him. As for a long term deal, there is no agent in football that would do that. He would get way more money on the open market than what the patriots would give him. And why the hell would you be a back up qb for another 2-3-4 years when you can be a starter for another team now. If he wants to be a back up another 3-4 years then I wouldn't want him anyways, because he would obviously lack a competitive drive. He might not come and and publicly say he wants traded or a chance to start but it's 99% sure he wants that opportunity to play and make a name for himself plus he would make way more money elsewhere. The patriots know this, the browns know this, that's exactly why the patriots are trying to get some type of leverage that they can otherwise teams wouldn't give up shit for him considering he will be a free agent next year. He will be dealt by the draft or on draft night. It's just a typical patriots play
