Belly after months of research for simple, easy, cost effective and quality.... I when with the Nest
installed three in home units, two outside (front/back).
It was crazy simple and easy, wife, myself and one daughter (limited to downstairs cameras) have access.
This is crazy is the mic ..... the video, photo graphic is clear

why? Weapon can give me the advantage, knowing what room the intruder or intruders are in, tells me what type of weapon I want to use and ammo.

Weapons are my interest, shooting is my passion, being the best is a goal. Get rid of any of my guns is not a option.

We have a nest cam. I don't understand why. Wife wanted to be able to watch the dogs for some reason. I don't feel any safer because of it and now I have to remember not to pick my nose in the living room.

The wife was the reason for the security system update, she want something to watch the house when we are gone and she could log to have a visual. Use the mic to call the dog that will drive the beast crazy...

Our home protection:

- Live in the ghetto, where nobody thinks you have anything of value.
- 4 dogs
- 1 shotgun

I sleep like a baby.

Wrong ... You don't live in the ghetto never have, you don't have 4 dogs maybe one pug and you may own a shot gun but no shells. People that live in the ghetto or projects and high crime area never rest easy or sleep like a baby. Thieves want what little anyone has.

LOL

Belly, you're welcome to visit any time you like to see for yourself.

I do, indeed, live in a ghetto (not the projects ... that's different, which I assume you actually know). I do, indeed, have four dogs. And I do, indeed, have plenty of shells for my Mossberg 500.

"Thieves" want other things, too. Namely, to be able to enjoy the things they steal safely and without injury. In the ghetto, the risk is rarely worth a B&E with people home. Most theft here is crime of opportunity.

And that is why I sleep like a baby.

I know the neighborhood you live in, so Belly's post made me laugh.

Anyone hacked in yet to keep an eye on you? The downside of being able to monitoring your home on-line is that there's always the potential for someone else to do so.

Nah. Neighbors on one side have a couch on their porch. They're loud people, but they're cool.

On the other side ... there's not much of anything. Their porch is broken and has trash all over it. Last tenants were crackheads, and they really beat the place to hell.

Yeah, the gun is basic. I don't use it for much. Just keep it clean and ready in case I need it. I doubt I ever will, though. For some reason, people around here are absolutely terrified of dogs ... even little ones.

In any case, you're always welcome. I live, stereotypically enough, right near the Popeyes Chicken and the Family Dollar.

Bingo. This is why my wife and I have already dismissed the idea of ever having a web-capable baby monitor when we have a baby.

Can't you shut it off when you are at home and only use the "radio" part of it? For people who don't live in the ghetto it would be convenient to use it every once in awhile while drinking at the neighbors or whatever.

Oh, you can shut it off, sure. However, even if we both worked out of the house, I'd prefer not to have it available to anyone who can get into it while we're out of the house.

But I work from my home anyway, so I suppose we wouldn't have much use for it, either way.
