An "insider"/ scout (for a diff franchise) I know says that the Votto to Toronto thing is still out there, but he has a no trade clause and the reds would likely have to eat some of it. Unlikely, but it isnt totally off the table, and the Yankees were interesting in Descalfini for a couple of mid level prospects.


Need to move Phillips. Bailey needs to come back strong. Descalfini.....set a reds record last year for most starts giving up 3 hits or less....impressive.

Meso I worry will never return to that middle of the order starting catcher.

Middle level prospects for Disco and Yankees can suck it.

Hoping Homer works his way toward an ace pitcher but will always feel he's head weak and benefitted greatly from working with Ryan Hanigan.

Everyone has jumped on the wins aren't important yet all the best pitchers pile them up.

Was a bit surprised with straily getting traded. I wonder if it was one of those instances when they felt he totally overachieved and they dont expect him to reach that mark again and wanted to trade him as his peak.


In the reds storied franchise he set an impressive record. He set the franchise record in starts in which he gave up 3 or fewer hits. Think about that. That is tremendous, and he didnt even start the season in the rotation.

Great trade honestly. Castillo is a really good get for a scrub like Straily.

I agree. I think this is one of the times the reds came out in front in a trade. Not bad return for a guy who I think was a waiver wire pickup last year. He pitched well enough to get reds 3 players that hopefully contribute.

As much shit as we give the front office, I think this time we give them kudos.

Didn't seem to get much of anything for him, either. A guy coming off Tommy John who'd been outrighted and was poor during his one year in MLB and a 29-year-old Cuban with blah peripherals in the minors last year. While paying most of his salary. Was this trade solely made to make Azu happy?

Glad to see the Reds move Phillips. Not because I don't like Phillips, but he's not the part of the future so he'd just be taking playing time away from those that are/could be. I'm looking forward to his induction in the Reds Hall of Fame.
