Yep, when they said it would be big/surprising these are exactly the 2 guys you would not expect, as they've brought them back multiple times previously.

Not a fan of Carlos but Lofton was an easy choice.

Lofton may be the most notable Indians player of all-time and certainly the best lead off man to ever play for the Indians in the 90's.

I get the Sheen thing...no way they'd wanna associate with that I'd assume. Belle would have been great, but I've gotta assume it'd be hard to pry him from whatever rock he's been hiding under since retirement. Dude hated being the focal point...can't remember many if any events he's ever been to. Not many other options out there. I loved Kenny.

Belle has worked his way back into the fold with the team recently, he was at Spring Training in recent years, and was back for the HOF last year. I wouldn't be surprised if they used him if it goes 6 or 7

Best lead off man to ever play for the Indians in the 90s on Sundays?

Since we are being extremely specific.

He certainly is up there.

I would have like to see Visquel over Carlos.

Omar Vizquel and Kenny Lofton are my 2 favorite Indians of all time.

Lofton is by far the best lead off and centerfielder the Indians have ever had, not just in the 90s.

Omar is not only their best SS ever but possibly the best SS of all time (debatable between him and Ozzie Smith).

No real debate....Ozzie isnt the best SS of all time either.........he had the flash and flare...but not the best SS of all time....

I didn't realize that. Glad to know he's getting back in the fold...now I wish he would have been thrown it out. My favorite was the story of (can't remember the reliever) climbing through the vents to go get his bat back from the umpire's locker room they took because they thought it was corked. Man, the 90's Indians were awesome.

No surprise- Lester gets the nod vs Kluber game 1.

Cubs are -200 for the series.

Haven't seen a line yet for Game 1.

Same here.

Except for Omar being the best SS of all time.

Belle skipped his own HoF induction into the Indians HoF (granted, he says he had the family vacation planned well in advance). He is on better terms, but not great.

Jason Grimsley.

My favorite Belle story is the one where a fan was heckling him calling him Joey and Belle fired a bb into the stands and nailed the guy in the chest.

Who is obviously better? Maybe a couple could be named that are comparable but none really that are obviously better.

Shortstop is a fielding position (as is CF).

Omar has the highest fielding % of all time for all SS (not including current players).

Ripken is 7th, Jeter is like 22nd.

Gold Gloves:
Ozzie 13
Omar 11
Jeter 5
Ripken 2

Ripken was a great player and one of my favorites all time, but he is known for his longevity not for his defensive abilities.

Jeter could never beat out Omar and didn't get his first GG until Omar went to the NL.

Last time I checked SS's also batted. If you want to just go on fielding percentage you need to go to 14th to find the first HoFer...Ripken. Cal is the highest Fielding percentage of any SS in the HoF. Sure, his range may not have been as great at others but when he had the chances, he fielding it pretty good I would say. There are a number of current guys above the first HoFer in terms of fielding percentage...including Zack Cozart. Omar was a great SS, but not one of the all time greatest...

Of the top 50 career in fielding percentage for a SS.....only 3 are in the HoF.

Ripken and Vizquel's career BA are almost identical .276 vs .272 and Omar was a much better fielder. Ripken got his name by playing in every game.
