As for other big guys, I'd throw O-Lib's Crooks into the mix at HWT, especially if he has been able to put on any size. He wrestled stubborn against a lot of good HWts last year but was giving up quite a bit of size. If he was able to bulk up, I'd think he'd be in the mix for what should be a pretty soft (relative to prior year's) Central District HWT scene.
Will be curious to see if Coffman's Frye can make 220. He's put on a lot of muscle the past 2 years and would assume he's working to do the same having committed to Duke to play football. They list him as 239 for football, so if that is all he is, he may be able to get to 220 but I would think it would be tough. At 220 or HWT I think he is Top 4 in the state either way.
As for dark horses, I'm curious to see how Tri-Valley's young HWT Garret Miller develops. He'll be just a Soph, but he looks like he could make some noise in the District next year for sure. Stocky kid.

=unsure about participation Some of the weights are bound to be wrong, especially this early in the year. Feel free to let me know if you have any insight or information. 106- 1. Logan Agin- Lancaster (2nd middle school state) 2. Blake Saito- O. Liberty (2nd middle school state) 3. Jacob Sherman- Olentangy 4. Mitch Herren- U. Arlington 5. Jacob Satterfield- Marysville 6. Micah Dusseau- Davidson 7. Zane Rennie- Watkins Mem. 8. Kyle Murray- Coffman Agin and Saito were both middle school state finalists last season, and both have landed at excellent high school programs who will have them ready for a run at state placement in their freshman seasons. Agin was a middle school state champ in 2014 while wrestling at the 74 pound classification. He defeated Lucas Byrd 3-1 in the finals in a weight where Oscar Sanchez and Julian Tagg placed 3rd and 4th respectively. Dusseau and Rennie are two wrestlers who I will be interested to watch this year. I’m guessing that they end up at this weight after bumping up to 113 to accommodate their team’s line-up last year (DiSabato and Fulwider wrestled 106). Dusseau beat state qualifier Marcus Najdusak 15-4 to win a title at Hamilton Township 113- 1. Brakan Mead- O. Liberty (3rd, 2nd state) 2. Gio DiSabato- Davidson (4th, 6th state) 3. Zach Collins- Central Crossing (SQ) 4. Alec Fulwider- Watkins Mem. (5th district) 5. Lucas Seibert- Westerville N. (6th district) 6. Doug Patterson- Mifflin 7. Amadi Bakari- West 8. Christian Salazar- Lincoln Mead has been one of the best lightweights in the state the last few years, and he’ll be looking to cap of his sterling career with his first state title in 2016. His greatest competition will likely be fellow state finalist Gabriel Tagg who he split two bouts with last season. It’s been a pleasure watching Mead over the last few years and I’ll be rooting for him to close out his career in style with a gold medal at season’s end. I was a bit surprised to see DiSabato listed here after wrestling 126 over the summer, but he’ll be formidable regardless of weight class. Never fearing competition, DiSabato bumped up to 113 for multiple tournaments last year, knocking off 2x state placer Coleton Chase at one and besting state placer Matt Asher at another. 120- 1. Jordan Rosselli- O. Liberty (SQ)* 2. William Harris- Tri-Valley (SQ) 3. Jakaria Hossan- Coffman (SQ) 4. Zach Williams- Hayes (SQ) 5. Bailey Munday- Big Walnut (5th district) 6. Cameron Farmer- Mt. Vernon (6th district) 7. Justin Rodriguez- Whetstone 8. Zander Ellison- Bradley I assume that Rosselli is still wrestling for Liberty and hasn’t moved to Oklahoma where his dad is now the head wrestling coach, but I don’t know that for a fact. Rosselli was the district champ here last year, beating state placer Seth Transue 11-6 in the finals. His best win during the regular season was likely the 4-2 win over 2x state placer Matt Cardello in the semifinals of the GIT. Cardello is currently ranked 4th in the nation by Flo Wrestling. Harris was only a bout shy of placement at state last year, and pinned Hossan in their district semifinal bout the week before. Harris also downed Munday 14-11 in the district quarters and bested Farmer 13-7 in their state duals bout. Hossan bested Farmer twice at the district tournament last year 12-10 in OT in the opening round and then 15-5 in their go-to-state bout. He also pinned state placer Matt Asher at the GMVWA where he placed 6th last year. 126- 1. Derek Sharp- Marysville (SQ) 2. James White- Hayes (5th district) 3. Teddy Hill- U. Arlington (6th district) 4. Joey Hustler- Lancaster 5. Valenty D’Ambrosi- Bradley 6. Nick Varanelli- Olentangy 7. Sean Grim- St. Charles 8. Earl Schneider- Tri-Valley White flies a bit under the radar, but he’s already achieved state alternate status as a sophomore, and looks like the type of wrestler who could climb to state placer status if he continues to improve in the quality Hayes wrestling room. He picked up a nice 7-4 win over middle school state placer Jabari Thomas early in the year and hung tough with Sharp in a 4-2 go-to-state bout. Sharp would go on to defeat 3x state placer Harry Feuer in the first round of the state tournament the next week. 132- 1. Josh Grant- Westerville N. (SQ) 2. Alex Lieb- Watkins Mem. (5th district, 2015 SQ) 3. Garrett Hosterman- Marysville (6th district 2015)* 4. Brady Pethtel- Olentangy 5. Noah Dotson- Pickerington C. 6. Ian Noonan- St. Charles 7. Derrick Mitchell- Lancaster 8. Dylan Copoly- Mt. Vernon Grant will play a significant roll for a solid Westerville North squad who should make a serious push for a district trophy this year. A mere bout from placement at the state tournament last year, Grant earned a pin over 2x state placer Cameron Lathem during the state duals process. Hosterman missed a significant portion of last year but was still able to place at the SWOWCA where he posted a 4-3 win over state qualifier Brayden Ploehs. If he’s back at full strength, I expect the Marysville staff to have him ready for a run at his first state tournament. 138- 1. Jaden Mattox- Central Crossing (1st, 2nd state) 2. Luke Hernandez- Tri-Valley (8th state) 3. Carson Kharchilava- O. Liberty* 4. Blake Wright- Westerville N. (1st middle school state) 5. Demetrius Monroe- Davidson (5th district) 6. Tre Bogetich- Westerville C. (6th district, 5th district 2015) 7. Tai Bloch- Darby 8. Ben Yost- Coffman (6th district) Only a sophomore last year, Mattox already looks so good and so experienced that it’s easy to forget how young he is. After a second 3rd place finish at Ironman, Jaden went undefeated the rest of the year, knocking off 3x D-3 state champ Jake Spiess in the finals of the Maumee Bay Classic and then winning his first state title after besting Connor Brady, Corey Shie, and Zack Donathan in the district and state tournaments. Hernandez is another excellent central district wrestler who made impressive strides last season, winning an overtime bout over middle school state champ Walker Heard to earn his first state medal as a junior. That win reversed a lost that Hernandez suffered the week before at Darby. 145- 1. Dominick Demas- Coffman (2nd, 1st, 6th state) 2. Connor Brady- O. Liberty (4th state) 3. Walker Heard- Marysville (SQ) 4. Xander Gore- Olentangy (SQ) 5. Ben Tate- Mt. Vernon (5th district, SQ 2014) 6. Mitch Potterf- Westerville N. 7. Ian Mayberry- Hayes 8. Cody Mayes- Westerville C. I really respected Demas for squaring off against Carr last season. Despite losing the bout, Dominick still took the challenge when he could have gone up and avoided him. One of the best showstoppers in the state, Demas added a 9-6 win over D-2 state champ Rocky Jordan to his already established docket of excellence. Brady was as good as advertised last year placing 4th at a loaded weight in his first state tournament after a season that saw him major D-2 state champ Kevon Freeman 15-6 in the Brecksville semifinals. |

Looking forward to seeing Josiah Harrell healthy this year. I understand he was banged up last year and that made his performance drop a notch or so. I like the way he gets after it and can pile up the points.

thanks for the early season insight viking. Glad to see my cowboys getting some love. Bakari from West is likely at 106 this year.

Does anyone know if Rosselli went to Oklahoma with his dad? Or is he staying?

I believe it was reported earlier that he would be staying for this school year. Someone can correct me if I am wrong on that.newbie75;1813986 wrote:Does anyone know if Rosselli went to Oklahoma with his dad? Or is he staying?

The Satterfields have moved out of state so Marysville will be not have Jacob at any weight this year.
