Very interesting. But what you're saying implies vast media conspiracy (unless it's just very regional) because the polls are grossly at odds with what you're saying....and I have serious doubts about a vast media conspiracy.

Reason I'm skeptical is everyone I know, which is a very diverse sect, mocks Trump HARD. Most of them don't like Hillary, but they think Trump is a complete clown. Does that mean a comfortable 52-48% victory for Hillary? I'd say very likely.

Oh I don't think they like him - perhaps maybe a handful of them do IIRC. But they don't "like" Hillary, either. But they are determined to try something different. Some of the people I talked to even said that they think Hillary will win, but it won't be because of them.
Vast media conspiracy? Nah. My opinions on conspiracies is limited.

I'd say that's at least semi-similar with my general region. I don't know anyone who has legit said they're voting for Hillary, with the more left-wingish people I know having been for Bernie, but (at least while he was running) against her. On the other hand, the only people I know who are voting for Trump are the pure right-wingers who are like Belly/QQ where they'd vote for an inanimate carbon rod if it had an "R" after its name (you know, the sort that might not have much to say about Trump, but who can rant for hours about her). If nothing else, I think this lends evidence to the premise that we're not an accurate cross-section.

No we are not an accurate cross-section of the general public at all. What we are a cross section of is educated, concerned, freethinking, Midwestern voters.

Just take the last word in that sentence about that "voters". Nationally, 35% or more of the people do not even vote.

"free thinking"...... Just by the fact that we are on this site, shows that we are involved in discussions, and formulate our opinions, at least semi-logically and informed. We don't vote based on 30 second sound bites… But PAC's spend a lot of money doing just that, because people fall for it .

"Educated".... Almost all of us on this website have at least a high school education, or better .

"Concerned"… Most of us here Karen off about this country to think beyond ourselves when boating for issues. Some people don't care, are selfish, or they don't have that luxury of thinking beyond their immediate needs .

"Midwestern"...people born and raised on the coasts or in the Deep South have different cultural values .

Add all of this up, and this site probably represents less than 10% of the people in this country .

I assumed you were just using the voice feature on your phone to post, but I still got the gist of it.

Ultimately, your overall point being that we're not an accurate sample of the entire voting population is accurate. The fact that we are on a political forum implies that we are politically active (or at least interested). The fact that the site is geographically specific in its focus means we likely have some ties to Ohio. That much alone would suggest that we are not an accurate cross-section.

I agree, and that is why I made the poll private on here. There are views that are unpopular within the current circle, and I wanted people to be free to express those views without having to admit to them if they're unpopular.

It's not unlike what happens when I go to my in-laws. They seem to be of the mindset that if Hillary Clinton is the next President, the terrorists win, and northeast Ohio will be the first target. As such, I just refrain from talking politics in large groups when we're there.

Really. Nobody has to lie. Or even disemble. It's right there, but of course only between Kasich and Trump. But it's going to be obvious to everybody that Hillary could not get the rust belt of Ohio if she said her life depended on it.

I would say this poll here is more accurate - 15 of 36 voting 3rd party, so fairly skewed...but mainly I was questioning people who claimed to not know anyone, or few people, voting for Trump and/or Clinton. Hyperbole at best, and I've probably done it also.

Typical "gottcha" journalism. They guy didn't know the name of specific city in Syria. There are a lot of cities in Syria that have played a part in this civil war. Not knowing the name of every single one does not equate to not being informed on the overall war.

gosh a ruddies, bull. The siege of Aleppo has been a central area of conflict. At the start of the conflict it was Syria's largest city with over 2 million people. The siege has been given extensive coverage. A well known photo from that siege.

Calling it just another city in the war, is like calling Stalingrad another city in World War II or Gettysburg, just another town in our Civil War.

Of course a dilettante space cadet like Gary Johnson is unaware of it but hey he will always have his apologists.
