I think it is a great time to be a fan of the Cubs. The north side of Chicago has to be very excited about this team and the talent they have on this team. At the top of the lineup is nothing but hitting ability and power. Dexter Folwer is almost a guaranteed hit and the 1 and 2 punch of K-boom and Rizzo is so threatening to any pitcher. Ben Zorbrist was an excellent pickup cause with fowler he is a very dangerous bat. I think if Jason Heyward could get on track, this would be one of the best teams to ever take the field and ive been to a game at Wrigley.
Additionally. the pitching staff is very good. Arrietta has struggled to pick up wins of late but you could attribute a lot of that to run support. Hes looked good. Hammells, Hnedricks and Lester are having great years. The addition of Aroles Chapman has been a big add to the closer spot. Mix in the zany Joe Maddon and youve got a ridiculous good baseball team.

In the past 20 years, what teams matched up well against this cubs team and do you think that they do you think that they are going to win the world series this year?

Need to win it all and that is a long way away. If they win it all they are a top 5 team of the last decade.

I don't think they have quite enough starting pitching for the playoffs. Maddon is good stuff. Young hitters might be a bit to prone to striking out.

No team is a perfect bet to win it all but Cubs do have some issues before winning it all.

I think you are selling them short. One of the best teams of the last 10 years? Yeah.
Likely one of the best of the last 40 years.

Hammell and Lester need to inprove. Arrieta has given some quality performances in july but couldnt get the wins because of runs support and chapman gave away a game. Hendricks and Arriea are both tough outs. The they need more help in relief i think but who knows when it is playoffs. K-boom is arguing the MVP of the NL(nation league). Soler has played well coming off this injury as well. It's a tough lineup to pitch against for sure.

I'm as die hard of a Cubs fan as they come. I go to games regularly, watch nearly every game televised and listen to the others on the MLB At Bat app (I did all of that when they were shitty too). I can name the starting lineups at about every level of MiLB too.

With that said; I honestly do not believe this team is going to win the World Series. I don't think they'll reach the World Series this season; probably another loss in the NLCS. They are way too young and do not handle pressure situations very well yet. There is no bigger pressure situation then trying to win the NLCS and get to the WS or (if they can accomplish that), closing a team out in the WS.

They are good, but they aren't experienced or mature. Experience and maturity goes a long way in October.

Also, Hammel and Lester have been excellent. So I'm confused by your comment above.

Hammel: 12-5, 2.90 ERA, 1.08 WHIP
Lester: 12-4, 2.93 ERA, 1.09 WHIP

What more could you ask for from your #2 and #4 pitchers?

Nonetheless, I hope I'm wrong about how this 2016 ride ends (I'm a Cubs fan, I'm used to disappointment and expect it). Go Cubs!

Also, the best teams the last 10 years (in no particular order):

2015 Royals
2014 Giants
2013 Red Sox
2012 Giants
2011 Cardinals
2010 Giants
2009 Yankees
2008 Phillies
2007 Red Sox
2006 Cardinals

Ask me in November if that list needs revised (I trust you get my point).

Very solid list. I can tell you put in quite a bit of research into it.
