3 out of 4 would be nice. Tigers forgot how to lose the last week.

I posted this yesterday after Lucroy vetoed the deal....
I think you can probably blame Lucroy's agent as much as anyone.
But truthfully, the Tribe is a bunch of guys who are team players, and focus on winning first and their contracts later. I'm not sure how a guy who's focus is about how much he's going to be paid two years from now fits in. If a chance to get to the playoffs and the World Series for possibly 2 years, a chance to work with an elite pitching staff, and play for Tito Francona isn't enough...if your so unconfident in your abilities that you're afraid that because they didn't guarantee you'd be the starting catcher....well, maybe you aren't a good fit after all.

Notice the completely different attitude of Cody Allen. This is the influence of Tito. If anyone should feel slighted, it should be Allen....a top notch closer in his own right, a position that he earned. He's secure and confident enough in his own abilities that he's focused on winning.

Not an Indians fan, but pulling for you guys the rest of the way. Was glad to see they got Andrew Miller, guy is a fucking stud. He's walked like 7 people this year. Going to be an exciting playoff run in Cleveland.

Also, fuck Lucroy. I know it's his right to utilize his no trade clause, but no one in sports should ever ask for a guaranteed spot a YEAR from now. Heard he was asking the Rangers the same thing after the Indians passed on him, and the Rangers also told him to pound sand. Good luck fitting in on a contender with that BS attitude.

Maybe we dodged a bullet on Lucroy. Here's a quote from an ESPN article about what Lucroy had to say about the Brewers:

"I want to win and I don't see us winning in the foreseeable future. I want to go to a World Series. That's what all players want. Rebuilding is not a lot of fun for any veteran guy," he said.

He clearly didn't mean that.

What do you mean? Do you think he'll stay in Milwaukee? I'm hearing there's about a 1% chance he stays in Milwaukee.

He's leaving, just not to Cleveland.

^^^^I'm sure the Brewers will take the best available deal for prospects. Lucroy can only veto trades to 8 teams.

I don't know. He says that quote in the offseason and then has an opportunity to waive his no trade clause to play with a team in 1st place and one of the front runners to win the American League and he blocks it.

You can't have it both ways. You don't get to bitch about your current club in the offseason and say I want to play for a contender and then block a trade to a contender.

He might get traded by today. Or not. If not, he'll get traded in the offseason or as a rental at the deadline next year. Either way, this doesn't make him look good.

Not a good look at all. But he didn't block a trade to Cleveland because he didn't think they were WS contenders. He blocked it because he wanted a guarantee for next year (aka, scared of a little competition). His quote in the offseason should have said "I want to play in a World Series.......as long as the following year I'll still have my starting gig!"

So now they are both changing their roles? Why not keep Miller as the set-up guy like he was with the Yanks.

Maybe because they feel he'll be the better closer in the playoffs?

He hasn't had a ton of experiences in the playoffs but he's lights out.

6 appearances

8 1/3 innings, 1 hit, 1 BB, 10 K, 0 runs, 27 batters

Miller has 8 saves this year so he's been used in the 9th inning. From what I heard in Tito's interview...he will use them interchangeably in the 8th and 9th. Let's say we are playing Boston...if Big Papi is due up in the 8th...Miller might go out for the 8th and Allen for the 9th....or vice versa if Miggy is due up in the 8th and Tito wants a righty on him (not like it matters with Miggy).

Ive heard they will go matchups and role without a defined set of arms in the late innings. Id prefer not to do that, and keep Allen at closer. Miller can close, and has done so very well for BoSox and more recently Yanks when Chapman was out (and last year a bit). But he is a bigger weapon when you can bring him in to face a few lefties in a row, or with guys on base because of his ability to K. Allen is a better guy to start the 9th, bases empty. Just my thoughts. Not gonna complain either way. Best LH reliever we have had since Raffy Left...damn near 10 years ago.

Indians trade some nobodies from Single A for a Nobody from Tampa, Guyer. Hits lefties well, and I didn't realize this, but Almonte is not eligible to play in the post season. In other shocking news (kind of), Uribe DFA'd to make room on the 25 man for Miller. He did need to go, but I'm surprised the team did it since he was a huge locker room presence. Small moves, but makes the team a little better. JRam getting rewarded and will probably play 3rd almost everyday.
