Are they still considered as #1 in recruiting classes right now, or has someone else surpassed them?

Thanks, was wondering because I haven't paid a great deal of attention to today, but had heard FSU had gotten a couple guys to flip from other schools, so I figured things would be interesting at the top.

Did the Buckeyes lose a commit or did other teams just pick up additional players? ESPN has them dropping 3 spaces to the #5 recruiting class, one spot above Michigan.

All of Ohio States "big" commits (Haskins,Jones,Bosa, Cooper) had already committed, so there was no real chance for us to retain our position as all of the other schools now ahead of us, had big name recruits sign today.

Plus ESPN, loves the southern recruits, those mainly signed by SEC, so no real surprise that They would jump up there.

Pridgeon was a big pickup for OSU today.

Basically, all the recruiting services have their own rankings, and they're all over the map. OSU was #1 according to Scout.

As long as we are in the top 10 and getting recruits Urban targets I am happy. Can't really believe OSU will ever get past the SEC bias.

What do they base this on or who do they use to rank this? The reason I ask is that I've heard OSU anywhere from #2 to #5 and I've heard FSU, Alabama & LSU as the #1 class, depending on who you listen to.

Best way for a 3* recruit to become a 4*? Commit to the domers or a SEC school.

Obviously having the talent and higher ranked kids coming in helps a ton...but what I think is more telling of a school/coaching staff is to revisit these rankings about 3 years down the line. Michigan State for example is usually top 25ish in nation in recruiting, but their coaching staff constantly coaches up these 3* kids coming in, into NFL players. Whereas take a team like Tennessee and Butch Davis or 'Ole Miss lately and all the hype the last 3 years about how awesome their recruiting classes are....and they do squat with them.

Is that an indication they coach them better or are they better at picking talent?

Yes.

I think it's a combination of both.

Anything better than 9-3 in '16 would be huge. Just too many starters to replace to realistically be much better than that. BUT...this recruiting class plus a solid group of current roster contributors make '17 & '18 look really good. Personally I'll be glad to see Barrett gone. Lotta drama seems to surround this kid and it's been distracting to the betterment of the team.

Barrett is back next year, so I can only assume you are looking forward to 2017.

What did he do that was bad? The drama this year was caused by the offense playing like shit at the beginning of the season.

There's just something hinky with Barrett. I can appreciate he's made some legit contributions but there are certain players that always have some extraneous BS floating around them and Barrett is one of em. Unless he can come out and dominate immediately, let's move on.

Oh it's terrible. They're just purely on the SEC's dick

He made one mistake that thousands of others make, sometimes more than once (like you). He paid the penalty and moved on. What is this "always" shit you're talking about?

He did have the DUI, although virtually everyone who has an opinion that matters seemed to be very vocal about how it was a one-time mistake sort of thing and that he is a very high-character guy who was devastated about what happened. But since we're talking about Tiernan, I'd guess said "drama" revolves around his skin color, since in his world, most African-American pro athletes are "thuggers".

The DUI doesn't mean shit to me. Let's see what he can do with the keys to the car handed to him from day one which he hasn't had the luxury of yet. Hope for the best but my gut tells me something else.
