I actually don't see how a 3rd rounder would help the Bengals for McCarron. So I really wouldn't want to do the deal either.

You'd be rid of a guy who's reasoning behind a loss was "It seemed like it was pouring down when we had the ball, and lightened up when they had it."?

Again, he's a young, backup QB who now has a little experience. If he was projected to be even a fringe starter, it's not outrageous.

Didn't the Texans give up a 2nd rounder for Matt Schaub? A younger backup they thought could start?

The Raiders traded a 5th rounder and conditional 6th rounder (?) for Matt Flynn, a career backup who was still young?

So, when your team is starved for something, almost is enough for you to go all in. Similar to how a lot of Browns fans bought in on Manziel after a couple semi-decent games.
Just days after this game & when Jackson was hired I saw all of these Browns fan (dumbasses) screaming for McCarron. I just shook my head.

They weren't acquired via trade but obviously some fans have forgotten Matt Cassel/Matt Flynn's of the league (lightning in a bottle for a small sample size and then crashed & burned when they left their original teams).

I'd rather have an unknown rookie at #2 than roll the dice on McCarron.

McCarron SUCKS. Stop trying to reason anything else.

“I think Jared Goff is a better QB prospect than James Winston.”- @GregCosell

Lets get Goff.

Seems like a bit of an exaggeration.

But wasn't Goff getting much praise over his ability to read a defense in a pro style offense? Same shit people were salivating over with Winston.

If we take a QB, I hope it's Goff. He took mainly shotgun snaps, but did make reads and had the ability to audible.

To me, Goff looks like the only QB worthy of a high 1st. Everyone else looks like a project, Lynch (horrible bowl game) and Wentz (D1AA-FCS) look like maybe late 1st, early 2nd. But I'm sure someone will reach.

If Goff is top 10 overall, then I believe it would be ok to reach for a QB at #2. If Goff is rated outside the top 10, don't reach that far, the Browns would end up with Bosa (his motor seems on and off, like he takes wholes series off, maybe due to constant double teams) or Tunsil. Then the Browns can either move Goathomas or put Tunsil at RT until Goathomas retires. The Browns if they take a project at QB, it should be someone 6'4".

I'm not thrilled with bringing back Horton but, other than that, Jackson has assembled a pretty decent staff.

Me neither. One positive with Horton was he made Gipson play his best football imo. Did Horton run a 3-4 or a 4-3?

Horton was probably the best we could get with Schwartz and a few other dc's already off the table.

At least he's been a DC and Jackson can focus on the offense.

Pretty sure he's originally from that Pittsburgh tree so I'd venture to guess it was a 3-4. He followed Whisenhunt to AZ and then TENN.

At least they can keep some of the pieces they have on defense since they likely drafted for the 3-4. Still need edge rushers.

Agree with this. I was really hoping they'd get Schwartz but I guess I'd rather have Horton than a position coach getting his first promotion to DC.

Just read this morning that we added Pep Hamilton as well.

"Cleveland has hired Ray Horton as the team's defensive coordinator, Pep Hamilton as the team's assistant head coach on offense and Hal Hunter as the team's offensive line coach, per multiple reports. "

I like the exp on this staff.

Name in Tenn that stood out to me, "Nick Eason, Assistant Defensive Line"

I met Nick Eason at a Waffle House near Akron the summer he left the Browns the signed with the Steelers. Nice guy, was surprised when I told him I didn't wnat his autograph bc I don't collect Steeler Autographs.

Gordon applies for reinstatement....would like to see him get another chance. Not sure if he's shown the ability to stay clean but would still like him to get another chance.

I don't know WTH is going on but watching First Take for the first time in maybe 2 years and not sure why by Stephen A and Skip Bayless are speaking without yelling and making damn good commentary on Gordon/Hue/Manziel and the Browns. A really good listen and watch?!?

I need to get up and go get something done lol.

I'll be surprised if he isn't reinstated.

I saw the title of a story pop up on Yahoo (didn't open). Said something to the effect of "The Browns have a big decision to make regarding Manziel, Gordon." Not really. Both are no brainers. The "talent" (Gordon) should get another shot while the Lollipop Kid can hit the bricks.

They've kept Gordon for this long. Might as well see it through.

Exactly. Gordon is arguably the best receiver in the NFL when he's not being a dumb fuck.
