It's got nothing to do with being mentally weak. You just generally don't put your QB in that situation. To counterpoint the Derek Anderson example, I think a lot of Hoyer shitting down his leg late in the year had to do with the pressure of JFF waiting in the wings. Granted, Hoyer isn't much to speak of but I think he would've done better if that pressure weren't there. And you don't have to tell me about the O-Line issues. I know that was a factor but when the game was in Hoyer's hands in key moments (Indianapolis) he failed miserably.
With all of this being said, I'd keep JFF unless they get a sweet offer. I just understand the angle Laley's coming from.
