Not lunch, break, clocking out...or nooners

What be it?

For me it's the kids that I've had throughout their young elementary years and give the smile every time I see them....then come to class and do whatever is asked of them with pride and determination....even better when they are disadvantaged kids. There is a lot of crap and a lot of negative in schools....those kids keep me going after 18 years.

For me, since I work evenings, til 1 am usually, the absolute best part of my work day is my lunch hour. It just so happens to coincide with my Son's bed time, so I'll FaceTime him after his bath, and we get to talk/read/be silly, he'll show me the stuff he did at pre-school, and if he's learned any new words he'll text me.

It's the only thing that keeps these late shifts bearable.

Broke the thread rules but legit. I would have trouble with that shift.

Well our schedule recently changed to Sunday-Wednesday, 4:30AM-2:30PM. I usually get in around 3:30AM though. Best part of my day is when I first get in because I am the only one there and can actually get work done without stupid questions.

Best part of my work day is when i see HR in the hallway and they don't knock on my door and ask me if i have a minute. We've laid off about 25% of the company since March (if you'll look at a trend of oil prices you'll see why) and 3 people in the offices surrounding me have been let go. Everytime HR has knocked on the door and said "Hey________, do you have a minute?" Then 5 minutes later a policeman is walking them out of the building (company policy that any terminated employee be escorted out of the building). Then I have to go into their office and box up all the stuff that is not company property and call my admin to ship their stuff to their house.

Best part is usually after work on west coast games when I catch a redeye (which in turn is 99% 757s, with Dish TV) and can watch the work I've done on the highlight shows. East coast we usually go have some beers so I'll catch the days highlights later.

Within the hours onsite? I'd probably go with the actual game. While stressful as hell, when I sit back and reflect its awesome to part of something so big, created by a crew of around 100 people total.

If I remember correctly BR we are in the same or similar type of industry, so I am on the same boat as you. "When I close a deal" is the best time of the day.

When the distressed baby (< 30 weeks old, meconium, non-reassuring heart tones, dumbass mom did cocaine, etc) comes out crying and alive anyways.

Same. There are only two of us, and I really enjoy being here alone.

Sounds very productive. And how the hell do you have 2 hours in the middle of your work day?

God I hate retirement and what to get back to doing something.
I loved solving problem with engineering, shipping or manufacturing ... but mostly working with designing new products..

I can think of one thing "what to get back to doing something" during your retirement.
