Religion in a nutshell. Pretend that anything that has happened, is happening or will happen has been foretold, while pointing to vague scriptures that could mean any number of things to "back up" that belief. And then hope enough people are gullible enough to keep swallowing the nonsense so that you may remain relevant as the world continues to progress.

A tragic event happened, some religious nut took vague words from scriptures and decided they may have foretold said event AFTER THE FACT in an attempt to pretend their belief has actual real-world legitimacy. People of sound mind are laughing at the concept and waiting for either the rabbi in question or the woman who wrote the article to say they saw Jesus' face reflected in a desert oasis right next to a tree's shadow on the water that looks like the Eiffel Tower, proving that their god will strengthen the French spirit.

Sure. An intelligent person is not interested in something that is complete nonsense.
An unintelligent person who cannot make the distinction would still be interested in something is complete nonsense, whether they believe it or not. The test is whether you are interested in complete nonsense or not.
