The NFL has to fine him though. I love what he does, and he does it knowing he's going to get fined, so I have no problem with it.
With that said, if he is going to throw away $20,000, he could have at least went to the ref with more than a $1 bill.

it was hilarious, but he knew it wouldn't go unpunished.
it goes without saying that the NFL has no sense of humor, this cemented that thought in my head.

Yes, its funny and great but its also against the rules.
Chad isn't getting a free pass simply because its funny. And what is 20K to him, he knows going into it that he will get fined.

The NFL should donate this joke of a fine to charity.

Although he did break the rules, he is entertaining. If he wants to throw away 20 Gs he can throw it my way!

They should have fined him a dollar and avoided all this "No Fun League" talk.

Watching it live was so funny. The ref wouldn't give him any time to discuss the grease.

Am I correct that Chad matches that amount he generates in fines with an equal donation to charity?

Yes. But the NFL fines already go to charities.
