I was watching the gator bowl on new years day and one of the commmnetator's said thier coach told him that he thought they could win the national championship in 2011. I was a little surprised by the statement. Does anyone know what type of players they have coming back and is thier recruiting class that good coming in?

They could be solid, but a national championship is a bit of a stretch I think.

Bill Stewart won't be there in 2011 either. Ask the alumni.

Interestingly, Pitt believes it will be a national title contender in 2011 as well. I think they and WVU ought to worry about being able to beat UC and winning the BE before talking of NC.

He will be here in 2011. His contract is good until 2013 and the outgoing AD put a ridiculous buyout in the contract so we couldn't fire him. If WVU fires him, we owe him 850,000 for each year remaining on the contract. Like anyone would ever want Stewart to begin with.

There is 0% chance of Stew getting fired. I'm not one of the alumni in the know though so take it for what its worth.

Bill Stewart said WVU will win a national championship in 2011. That either means he has died or every other team forfeits on the schedule. I'm predicting a 7 win season at best.

WVU will have one of the best defensive players in the country in Branko Busick.

When people say 2011 on this thread, are you talking about next college football year or the year after that?

The way the are saying it is the 2011 football season. If they do win the 2011 national championship they will do it in Jan of 2012

Why is the coach of a team talking about 2 seasons from now then? What's that tell the seniors of next year's team? That their coach is looking forward to the year after they leave?

Yeah, no idea. I guess he just went ahead and mailed it in next year. It provided him a whole year of excuses.

No, they have to play LSU in 2011 for a OOC game.

At least the LSU game is at home in 2011.

Don't question Bill Stewart. WVU will win the national title in 2011.
