Is common sense a lost skill?

Everyday we view, read and hear of individuals ... Wtf where they thinking
Everyday in the work place we witness individual inability to rationalize the situation and find a solution
Everyday people making poor choices in their life

It doesn't matter how educated, race, gender or economic level.... The lack of common sense is rapped.

... It's amazing to see how few people have common sense anymore. Adults leaving babies & small kids for hours on end with strangers & then wonder what went wrong when something bad happens. Fucking people get dumber by the day!

Common sense is no better or worse than 20-40 years ago, the plight of Darwinism is just more publicized today.

Of course, I was just kidding when I said "rap music" because Belly wrote "rapped" in the OP.

However, in our local paper today, an old vet was interviewed who said that he has watched the country go to the dogs and it all started with the Beatles and the British Invasion of music.

Parents need to smack their kids ass when they fuck up...teach them common sense. But the parents are the problem. They are fucking dumber than their kids. Bring back the ass whooping in schools by the principals and harsher punishments by the court system...maybe that will teach some of these stupid fucks walking among us to get a clue!

Common senses: Taste, touch, smell, sight, hearing.

Uncommon senses: I see dead people.

Essentially, things really come down to old people seeing new forms of pop culture come up and determine the reason everything is "worse" than it was back in the day is because young people get into new stuff instead of the exact same stuff they got into. Once upon a time, the generation of Belly's parents was probably bitching and moaning about the advent of color TV was ruining the American household or some such stupidity.

It's BS like a Major University not having the common sense to fire hose a bunch of thuggers but instead get rid of their Pres who really didn't do shit to warrant the thuggers protest in the first place.

If you need it defined, then you don't have it [emoji23].

Blind acceptance of social norms?

I ask because so many people seem to have a different idea as to what falls within the scope of "common sense," and what doesn't.

More often than not, when I ask, they end up using "common sense" as a justification for something that is otherwise not supported by evidence or reasonably sound logical constructs.

Interesting idea, particularly given the minutia to which it's often applied.

Moreover, you really still end up with an equally-large question: What would be optimal human behavior/flourishing and social schemas?

Common sense is nothing more than doing the right and appropriate thing at the right, appropriate time.
