A group of us are going to the Dent Schoolhouse in a couple weeks. I found a Holiday Inn Express(5505 Rybolt Rd), and it looks like there are some sports bars and stuff nearby, since we'll wanna watch the OSU game before we go. I know nothing about that area though, and don't want to stay in a bad part of town. So does anyone know anything about this area? I don't need need upscale, just want some decent places to hang out.

It is a blue collar, middle class area. I wouldn't want to live there but I wouldn't hesitate to go there for a night at a hotel.

That is my neck of the woods on the west side. That Holiday Inn should be a completely fine place to stay. There are sports bars along Harrison Ave. there but I think the food in them isn't that great. You could jump on the highway and be at a Quaker Steak and Lube within 10 minutes which is what I would do in your case unless guys just want to drink. I'll reply back with more good places to go so you have some options when I have more time to respond, but that hotel isn't in a bad spot at all.

Terry is right on. Not a bad part of town. Blue collar, but harmless.

Also, is this your first time hitting up Dent Schoolhouse? I'm not really into Haunted Houses, but I went to that one a few years back and it was one of the best haunted houses I have ever been to.

Yep first time. We chose it over the Lewisburg Caves.
