Rumors are he is going to Fox Sports 1. Either way what a terrible year the mothership is having, they lost Simmons who created two amazing outlets in Grantland and 30 for 30, SVP left his radio show, and now Cowherd leaves.

I don't think he is quite as good as Dan Patrick but still I like listening to the show and think he's probably the best mainstream guy on college football. Hopefully he does not leave radio for good

He's a whiny dude. Can't stand his voice.

ESPN also lost Gregg Easterbrook and his TMQ column. I enjoyed it. ESPN actually chose not to renew.

Easterbrook was a bit repetitive over time with some of his off-topic stuff he did towards the ends of his articles. Overall I did enjoy his analysis of football though.

I got to know Gregg Easterbrook after being a camp counselor for his son when I was in college. He could be a bit long winded but he always made good interesting points.

Damn I hadn't heard about Easterbrook leaving that sucks. I'm not big into politics stuff but I always loved reading his TMQ column and definitely always loved how long and thoughtout his columns were.

As for Cowherd he is a love him or hate him type of guy. I will agree he didn't really have a radio type voice but it never bothered me. I always loved him and he is one of the few guys I still listen to on a daily basis.

It seems like all my favorite guys for football related stuff will be gone at ESPN by the time it starts up again this year. Simmons, Cowherd, Easterbrook, SVP (I know he still will be with ESPN but I don't stay up late and don't watch sportscenter). At least Mays and Barnwell will still be around.

The bottom line? ESPN's bread and butter is covering college football, the NBA, the NFL and college basketball. They mix in some baseball, combat sports, golf and tennis, but generally, those 4 sports get them through most of the year.

Given what some of these guys can probably command based on what their brands have built, and how other companies and networks would love to be able to associate themselves with the brand, they likely pay far more than ESPN would. Not because they can't, but why not? Look at why guys like Cowherd became what he did? He replaced someone else. Look at all of the Sportcenter anchors who have moved up and moved on? Many of them replaced by others who built the same brand.

In the end, ESPN creates most of these guys and right or wrong, they figure they can create more of them.

Not only can, but should, a lesson apparantly not learned as shown by having a Berman at least 20 years past his being the least bit entertaining.

Berman was there from the beginning. Wouldn't be surprised if he had some type of dirt.

I guess I'm in the minority with Berman, I like him and his delivery. Adds color, humor, and fun without being a douchebag character (skip).

There were articles last week that Disney is demanding $350 million in cost cuts from ESPN over the next 2 years.

I used to like him a good number of years ago, but he just seemed to get stale as far as material goes. Overall, I can get into him at times (NFL studio shows, in particular), but I hate whenever he does live commentary (home run derby, the late MNF game the first week of the season), as he just seems to be a complete idiot then.

I don't mind him. I think he fits in well with the current NFL countdown group. Everything else though? Beyond his prime imo.

It hasn't been announced officially, Easterbrook sent me a tweet the other day about it. I hope TMQ exists in some capacity.

I can understand how it's not for everyone (politics, rambling, randomness, etc.) but it's enjoyable most of the time for me.

The cost cutting part could be true, and there's no easier way to do it than take guys who could command millions (Cowherd, Olberman) and replace them with some up and coming people who are ready for the big stage, and replace their lower level positions with 5-figure salaried anchors and writers.

I'll be more concerned when some of my favorite commentators are let go. Guys like Dan Shulman, Mike Breen, Dave O'Brien, etc. They affect the delivery of the bread and butter of the network, sports. Although, aren't most of these guys under independent or flexible contracts of some sort? Most of them also have their own individual teams they work for.

As far as ESPN goes, that's the only thing I'd care about. I DGAF about their talk shows or studio stuff, but if they lost their better game commentators, I'd be pissed.

Well looks like Colin gets to leave ESPN a little earlier than planned. Anyone catch his show from Thursday or Friday? They've removing everything regarding The Herd from the ESPN website and I don't feel like going and looking for the audio. Was it really as bad the PC police are making it out to be?

He was talking about stuff that led into how Miami moved their GM into the manager slot and essentially said that baseball couldn't be that hard of a sport to learn/understand because of how many Dominicans played it because their education system is shoddy, therefore they aren't smart.

In other words, Sleeper's gotten so good at HOT TAEKS that he's inspiring national guys to up their game.

The guys doing the midnight sports center are worth watching these days kinda remind me of Patrick and Olbermann back in the day

Cowherd should lose his spot with FOX after those comments. Pretty bad.

I have no issue with his comments.
