Not really possible, more a certainty.

Sad for those involved and their friends/family. Unfortunately not really a way to prevent this.

Guys...he's just mentally disturbed, nothing to do with terrorism. That's what I remember reading on here with the kid from Charleston.

A police image of Mohammad Youssuf Abdulazeez taken after he was arrested earlier this year
The gunman, who was shot dead, was named as 24-year-old Mohammad Youssuf Abdulazeez by the FBI and local reports said he was born in the Middle East.

gosh a ruddies let me clear some of the vomit out of my throat. The shooter's high school wrestling coach was interviewed on CNN. He went on and on about what a great kid he was and how sorry he felt for his family.

This is the new norm. I am surprised it has taken this long to happen.

Stop having gun free zones on military bases.

As do I. The important thing is to worry about mental illnesses and how to deal with those, as opposed to this flag or that religion, as per the wise words of Belly.

Except I'm not so worried about millions of Jews, Christians, Scientologists or Buddhists determined to kill my entire country. Key difference.

I am guessing once the authorities examine this dudes computer and internet activity he is likely an IS sympathizer. Likely acted on his own following suggestive IS directives hitting a soft military target.

In this case it was not a military base. This dude attacked military recruitment offices. These offices are basically nothing more than a store front. While on active duty most members of the military should be allowed to carry at least a side arm. Its a small deterrent and a chance at personal defense. Short of lining military recruitment centers with sand bags, security fences, with snipers and machine guns mounted on the roof tops it would seem to me to be a reasonable thing to do.

Mentally illness has no boundaries of victims, they pick their targets from their back ground of emotional experiences and contacts with people expressions of frustration, taking it as the reason for their problems. The investigation with see hints of the shooters touching base with different groups, people, making comments, being with those who appear to be of same behavior set and appearance to find a place to fit into (comfort level). But they are the hidden extreme of the group, other members would not plan or act out shooting and killing. This was not an organized world terrorist operation, just like SC was not an representative of our country as racism haters or confederate flag waving hate crazy individual the norm of the American southern pride symbol the reason for what a mentally ill individual did.
This is what the new extreme mental illness mode of expression will be, this is also the same ideal individual ISIS is looking for. The new bomb is mental illness...
As more and more terrorist / hate groups form more acts of individual violence on soft targets will happen. The bigger problem will be when more than one crazy comes together under directed organizations leadership.

CCW ... Carry more offen, be prepared , proficient and ready we will be the first defense against calamity

While not expressed in the most eloquent terms, this is truth and we should be prepared for it. I don't agree with Belly that this is a result of mental illness as much as people beginning to feel alienated within our own country. We are being split and parsed into groups whose interests conflict, and then pitted against each other in Congress and the Supreme Court like pit bulls in a dog fighting ring. The losers of the battle are "sore"....and the winners can't resist spiking the ball without mercy. People feel powerless, and those on the fringe or with strong feelings are going to be pressed into doing something stupid.

It really stems from leadership, and we have had 15 years of this dating back to the election of 2000...the last 7 years going exponential.
It's about leadership that unites, or leadership that divides. It's about leadership that moves the country forward, or leadership that is hell bent on driving an agenda forward. We are always going to have disagreements in ideas and policy...but we need to be gentle when we win...and accepting when we lose. Most of all we need to realize that we are all Americans, with the rights to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness.

Semper fidelis and god bless our protectors of freedom and the American way of life. It is past due to arm recruiters ,so they are not sitting ducks for the Islamic scum. If we could only bring back Ronald Reagan from the dead. We need a war time leader now!

Stick to kickball.

An isolated incident at a recruiting office, located at a strip mall in Tennessee, isn't similar to attacks at some base in the Middle East.

This was some butt hurt muslim who came to america and found out after going to school it's not just easy street. He was just another religious nutjob who happened to be from the Middle East.
